Default what would be your choice between these two....

the next handgun i will buy will probably be either a 908s or a sigma 9mm s.s.

the price is about the same, one is easier to find descent/affordable leather for and is thinner thus more concealable.

the other is a similar design to Glock but not close enough to use the same holsters, its higher capasity but not so big that somebody my size cant conceal it.

if you could only choose one and had to leave it stock which would you get for all round ccw use.

Any threads like this are very subjective and based mostly on personal preference. That being said, of the two choices for ccw I would definitely go with the 908S.

I like the Sigma - I think it is a good inexpensive gun. But for ccw the 908 is smaller, thinner and I think much easier to conceal. They are accurate and reliable. I own a "pair and a spare" of the 908s, so, as you can tell, I am very fond of them.

Good luck in your choice.

Two very different guns, as you already know.

10+1 (16+1) rounds, polymer frame, Double Action striker fired, no decock or safety levers

8 rounds, metal frame, Traditional Double Action hammer fired, combination decock/safety lever

I since was never good at such decisions, I have accumulated an Sigma .40 SW40F for my polymer fix, a Model 59 for my high-capacity metal gun fix, and a Model 3953 for smaller and lighter...

However, since you have asked for only one, I would choose the SW9VE for its consistent Double Action trigger and lack or safety levers, which requires the same drill as any revolver. Again, that would be my choice.

I think there is a good selection of holsters for either, with perhaps a slight edge to the Sigma since it's still in production.

true about it being subjective....thats why i put limits on it as keeping everything stock.

some folks are build large enough to conceal a double stack easily, some are more slight of build and cant.....

ive owned a sigma 40 in the 90's. ive owned a 3913 in the 90's as well and currently own a 3953.

ive had expereince with both samples and as a bone stock gun its hard for me to choose....

sure the sigma has a substantial capasity advantage without being too much bigger and still easily conceals on me. it also has a rail for lights or lasers.

the 908s does not have a rail for any sighting aids so you must use one hand to hold those......of course it is easier to find several different styles/brands of leather for it, and it is slimmer, plus the semi classic look.

just looking for other folks opinions on what they would choose and why.

thanks.

I prefer the #908. Mine, on the left, gets carried a good bit, and it shows. I swapped the one on the right to my brother.

I am a "safety first" kinda guy, so the best choice is the 908. When putting the pistol into the holster (when it is already on the belt on the pants) for concealed carry, one can engage the safety to prevent a discharge, then flick the safety up for ready to fire mode.

For strictly CCW I'd go with the 908s as it's smaller and flatter. For HD and sometime CCW the Sigma would get the nod. Although the 908s would do HD duty just fine too!
Personally I went through this process a few years back and "compromised" that is I got a Smith 669! For you though I'd go with which one you shoot best and feels comfortable to you! Dale

908S - more compact, good reputation for concealability, reliability. If you change your mind later, no problem reselling - heck, you'll probably even make money.

+1 on the 908s even though the sigma is a good gun also.

I am not much on polymer guns or Glock looking guns in general so I would say the 908s. Heavy on the personal opinion here.

I think this one really comes down to preference and gun style. Both are good guns and I really like my SW9E, but it's hard to be a 3rd Gen (even if it is from the value line).
