Do you mean the SW P99 in 0.45? I have never heard of an M99. Dave_n

It's the S&W SW99 the P99 is the Walther version of the nearly identical firearm. Here are a few good links to info on the history of the SW99 series pistols.

Probably after the inception of the new M&P pistols, just an assumption, best bet would be give S&W a call. They could answer with a much more defined date.

The most interesting thing I find about the SW99, other than how nice of a gun it is, is that the Walther version was never made in .45 ACP, only the SW99 was made in .45. I believe the .45 version was made from around 2003 to 2005.
