Default 7 Round Metal Base / Flush Fitting 3913 Magazines

How many of you remember them or even know they existed? I remember that shortly after the 3913 was introduced, S&W made some metal base 7 round magazines that fit flush when inserted into the gun. I think Aayoob (sp?) had a part in S&W producing these magazines. I had never seen any until recently. I purchased off GB a set of 5 factory magazines that were advertised for a CS9. When the magazines arrived, only 3 were CS9 magazines, the other 2 were these 7 round 3913 magazines. Since I also have a 3913, this made it even a better deal. With this magazine in a 3913, it makes it a bit more compact/concealable at the expense of 1 round.

???? Never heard of those. My 3913 mags with the flat base pad, fit flush.......and hold 8 rounds.

I'm not sure how much flatter the mag base could be to warrant giving up an extra round.

Do you have a pic? Regards 18DAI.

I have a few of each. There are the mags that hold 8 with the finger extension, the mag that holds 8 with the flat plastic base that's about 3/8 thick of so. Then there is the 7 round magazine with a totally flat base, the base plate is made of stamped steel. It fits flat but the lack of a round, the loss of grip is not worth the (very minor) gain in conceal-ability.

I have one that came with a 3953 I bought. I actually prefer it over the somewhat cheap looking plastic base magazines. The loss of one round is not that big an issue for me.

You made out good in my opinion - these mags do seem to be pretty scarce.

Old thread I know but I haven't been able to find much additional information on these 7 round magazines.

I picked up a few last year - while the enhanced shortened grip size is offset by reduction in capacity thus rendering these more of a novelty to me, as a 3rd generation fan, I am interested in the evolution of the product line whenever possible

Anyone have more definitive information regarding these?

Thanks

To me, it looks like a 7 shot CS9 or the pre-rail 3913TSW magazine that someone used a modified model 39 base pad on. Especially now that we can see the old S&W markings. It looks identical to the old M39.

So the strange thing now is, if those 7 shot magazines are long enough to fully seat in a 3913 then they wouldn't be magazines for the CS9 or 3913TSW because those magazines are shorter. Strange. Very strange!

I have one of those 7 rounders...with the pinky extension. Same size and configuration as the 8 rounder that came with my 908s. Found it at my LGS rummaging through the used mag bin.
