I am posting this review of my range session with my new Bodyguard .380, beginning serial # EAExxxx. I've noticed the bodyguards with the beginning serial numbers EAA have had some problems, and I just wanted to post this some people on the fence for buying this gun would have some more info. First off, I am primarily J-frame revolver guy usually in some sort of airweight fashion. I decided to give this gun a try because it felt more like a real "gun" than the other pocket 380's out there, it was really thin, and it looked pretty cool. I went to the range with 100 rounds of WWB flat nose fmj, 25 rounds of Buffalo Bore hard cast lead flat nose 100grain, and 40 rounds of Buffalo Bore 90 grain hollowpoint. First let me start by saying I experienced no malfunctions of any kind, and the gun handled very well. The laser was poa-poi, for comat distances which ranged from 3 to 7 yards. The Buffalo Bore was great deal snappier but not uncontrollable, but I would not recommend extended range sessions with it. The hollowpoint from Buffalo Bore is very aggressive, but there were no failures to feed. I am very pleased with how this gun handled, and have been carrying it with the BB hard cast lead ammunition. In the summer I will probably switch to the BB hollowpoint, but with either ammo you can't go wrong. I still won't be giving up my j-frames but this bodyguard will probably get alot of use. I think Smith should have included an extra magazine but, oh well. The takedown pin/lever was very stiff and did not move itself out, nor did the trigger not fail to work like in the earlier bodyguards. I think Smith worked out the kinks in this would be an excellent choice for CC, especially for off duty carry like I do. Because, I came to find out the majority of off duty cops hate carrying heavy guns, and pocket .380's and J frames are more the norm. Hope this review helps the members in the forum.
