What is the difference between the 22A, 22A-1, and 22S?

22A was introduced in 1996
22A-1 Improvement to barrel assembly mechanics to prevent breakage when field-stripping 2004
22S Identical to 22A except frame and slide are stainless steel 1997
22S-1 Improvement to barrel assembly mechanics to prevent breakage when field-stripping 2004

Best 22 auto pistol on market for dollar spent, very reliable, super accurate and comes with a optics rail. With wood grips they can be quite pretty.

I have to agree with you about the 22A. Also like those wood grips. Sure would like to know where you got them.

With a scope they are super accurate game getters. This one took this grouse at about 12-15 yards.

Altamount grips direct from them for about $135 for the pair. CLICK HERE They are not listed on website, they were made for S&W to use on Davidson's exclusive package couple years ago. They are an African Rosewood and even prettier in person.

How Do You Replace the Plunger/extractor in M22A
The extractor on my M22A disappeared on the range recently. SW has sent me a new spring, plunger and extractor. The plunger is obvious on one end; it goes into the spring. But the other end has a flat side and an indented side: where do the respective sides go when re installing them? Does anyone have a technical manual on this pistol?
