Default 5906 IDPA/Mexican Special Forces Contract comparison

I know this has come up in various threads before. They're grail guns. I get it and know that I'll never have either. My question for those that have experience with either: is there anything from any maker in current production that can come close to the performance in metal with a hammer? I have a custom Beretta Brigadier that for me could come close, but it's not a hand fitted slide with a Briley bushing and it doesn't have a rail.

In current production? Closest and original from the factory would be CZ Tactical Sport or the up-level (and quite expensive) Tanfoglio competition guns.

Smith & Wesson makes absolutely zero that comes anywhere close.

I figured that was most likely the case. I was also thinking about a CZ P-01 from CGW with the pro-package and the 10X barrel bushing. I may just have to console myself with one of those regular 5906TSW trade-in's that are hitting GB rght now. Either that or a 6904. Or a Shorty 40. I've developed an itch for 3rd gens.

Hello EPGUY, if you're speaking of that 5906 Militar, I believe it was a pistol with special features,i.e., Melonite finish, decocker only, but assembled to regular production line tolerances.

The IDPA 5906s from the Performance Center were significantly different. The PC funs were built built on the .40 S&W slide/frame chassis, and began with raw forgings delivered to the PC. They had very precisely fitted barrel/slide/frames, Briley bushings, etc.

I haven't kept up with what current guns might come close, but the up-level CZs sound like a good bet.

Default SW 1911 PRO

I have a SW1911 Pro that is very accurate and in current production. I have some other very accurate PC guns and Custom guns and the 1911 Pro comes close. I have shot it in PPC Competition effectively.
