Wow, nice score on that 39 piece.
I've got more than a few 39s and 39-2s and I'm just get all sorts of rankled that one must say "No Dash" so as to distinguish a 39 from a 39-2. But, trust me, I lose no sleep over it.
The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 3rd Edition, says the serial numbers that started with your already referenced No. 1001 "and continues through 115000 in 1970. Applies to models 39, 41, 44, 46, and 52" (SIC).
Dating your gun's production likely should now become the purview of one Roy Jinks, fellow forum member and Smith & Wesson's official historian, who will research your 39 for $50 (last I heard). Such is an excellent investment for gun collectors of the serious ilk.
(BTW: I've got a No-No at Serial No. 2622, and is thoroughly pictured in my S&W Forum picture album. The S&W "Bible," The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 3rd Edition, says the No-No run went through "circa" 2600. It'd be great if mine were the last - usually stowed in a S&W safe - but I have no clue. But, for sure, production of the No-No didn't stop at No. 2600.)
