$$ for 3913 Lady Smith
Did I miss something? All of a sudden it seems as though people are asking a lot of money for an LS; $600, $700 and more. Plus , they suddenly seem to be very hard to find. Some are going for more than a CS9 or 45; if you can find them.
I have an LS, and they are great 3G pistols, but I don't think I'd pay more for one than a CS45. Has anyone else noticed this?

I agree with your observation that prices are on the uptick. Question though. Why would you pay more for a chiefs special? I was always under the impression that price wise and fit/finish quality these were CHEAPER than the 3G guns. Am I backwards on this?

The LS and CS have 'charm' that the Plain Jane 3913, etc. do not have. Flash always attracts more Cash.
Those of us who are more interested in Function buy the plain versions that don't sell as well, but work just as hard.

Supply v. demand. We all have different income levels and different wants/needs. If someone wants a 3913LS and are willing to pay $600-700 then some seller gets some nice coin. If several people fit into that category then the market responds in kind and anyone who wants a 3913LS is going to pay close to that price. Value is in the eye of the beholder.
The Chief's special have some production commonality with the 3rd gen value guns, but they are not value guns. And thanks to their shorter grip, they are also more concealable than say the 3913NL.

I've seen this as well. The funny thing is that there are 3914's and 3953's for sub $400 while the 3913's in general are fetching over $550. I prefer the standard frame to the ls frame.

I'm with you frank, but I really prefer the 3953 in addition to the standard frame. I've owned both, and I find my 3953 just more comfortable to carry, and I like the revolver-like manual of arms. I just wish in a way that it was a 3954 matte finish instead of the stainless; I kinda like the black guns.

I feel that the lady smith market is just spotty. I did not find any available this past year in Socal, then found one last week for $375 LNIB. Go figure.

Here in Indiana it seems the market for 3g guns in general is all over the place. I have seen run of the mill 5906s going over $500 when you can buy trade-ins for under $300. The 3913NL and 6906 prices are similarly inconsistent. I guess you can ask whatever you want if you are willing to be patient. Makes it tough for those of us on the lookout for the 3Gs.

I was suprised yesterday to see a CS45 on GB listed for $980 as the starting bid and another just under it with a starting bid of $400. You can ask anything you want, what people pay is another thing.

Missed one at a pawn shop in Blue Ridge Ga for 325.00 and it had a box and it was in deed mint.I must confess I almost bought it just because it was a smith still in the box and below 400.00.We left my parents house that night Saturday and went back to Atlanta.I looked them up on GB and saw what they were going for and couldnt wait till Monday to call and pay for it till I could get back up there.Well come to find out it sold Sat afternoon and I was really bummed,as I should have went with my gut and just bought the thing. The 2 morals to this story are never go by a pawn shop without seeing whats in it and always go with your gut.

I just think the price of everything is nuts. I can't believe Hi Points go for over a hundred bucks. So I really can' figure how much anything is worth when even cheap guns are getting price tags they don't seem to deserve.

I have been looking for years in Socal and the price was always more than I wanted to pay. Finally bought one that I think I overpaid about $150 for. However I don't think it will go down in price for a while.

probably not had 500 rds through it. I will contact S&W in the morning.

Don't get your hopes up too much. There is not a lot they can do with discontinued models.

They don't have frames any longer, so from what others who have had similar problems have reported, they will offer you a M&P at a discount.
That's a pretty rare failure on a 3rd gen gun. At least it seems that way.

That's what makes the world go around. I prefer the slanted frame look. I actually looked for one of the NL versions for a couple of years. Not bidding on GB during that time, but looking for one I could handle and examine up close and personal prior to purchasing. When I did finally find one, I probably paid more than the average going rate because I knew how difficult they were to find (in the local environment).
I'm one of those guys that paid 6 bills for one, like NIB, because it's what I wanted. I passed on a 3914 LadySmith right next to it for $350. Now I wish I had bought it too. Prices are going up, they don't make 'em no more you see.
Also paid top dollar for a 404PD I found, because I knew they were scarce too. So it is a supply and demand thing, and a matter of what folks want. Some guys love blued guns more than silver, some are revolver guys. I like all of them. I wish I'd bought more of them back when they were cheaper though, but I didn't, so I'm doing it now. I can't see them ever going down from here on.

S&W is sending a call tag so I`ll send it to them and see what they say--thanks for all the input.

Oh goodie! I can finally unload a couple or three of the seven (yep, count 'em: 7) 3913s I own, from NL (I carry) to LSs and even the first no-slant style (what'll we call them, by the way?)

Surprisingly they can do SOME things, but you're right in thinking that replacing the frame isn't one of them. I'd be VERY surprised by THAT . I'm south of Holland ( really God's country ! )

BelAir please post your experience with this issue. I curious how they handle this as I'm sure others are.
