Thumbs up Big Dog Grips on my CS45

Just got through installing my new Big Dog long grips on my CS45. They went on extremely easy, fit very well with no wiggle, and look great! The ONLY criticism I have is that I would prefer that the gap between the grip extension and the magazine floor plate be a little tighter. Mine has a gap of about 1/8 to 3/16 inch. Maybe that is as close as they can cut them and still have reliable mag loading or something, I don't know. It's no biggy, just something someone as particular as I am would notice. FUNCTIONALLY, they are perfect!

Ranger98: Go to Big Dog's site, you will see examples of all their grips. The site is called Griftac, by the way.

In a perfect world, we would all have Big Dog extended grips and the old 6 round 4513 floor plates on our CS45's. I sure like mine.

My cs40 only has the safety on the left side of the gun for right handed shooters! I see you cs45 has it on both sides.....is there a way to get the ambi safety on my gun! if so do you have the part number!

Sorry Deadeyedon, I don't have any answers for you. I know certain sub-models had ambi-safety and some didn't. Some were double action only with no safety/decocker. You might call S&W and ask.

I inquired with S&W about fitting an ambi decoker/safety on my CS45. They said they could do it for around $140. They also advised it could not be done with just parts, it has to be installed by a gun smith. I'll just keep putting up with the slight inconvenience (I'm a lefty).

I too am a gifted Lefty and would like this option on my brand new unfired CS-45 i just bought. Did S&W give you a part # at all? I have a gunsmith local i use. It looks like we would have to order the entire decocking assembly and it would probably be blue steel and not stainless. You tube video here shows the dissasembly of the 4506 decocker and it looks very simple to do yourself if you get the right parts to do it. LoL

Semper,

I think you're correct, the parts would be probably be blued.

If they are and you don't like that you can send them to Armallory and they will hard chrome them. They will look exactly like the chromed triggers & hammers Smith used to use. I've done it with the parts on my Shorty 45s that were blue, and love them.

Go here Semper:Hard Chrome Plating & Electroless Nickel Plating, Armalloy & Gun Bluing by Mahovsky's Metalife

Good guys. They've done all the blued parts for two Shorty 45s, some misc sight parts and a Winchester 94 Trapper in .45 Colt. Beautiful work and reasonable too.

I just bought mine new unfired from a private collector for $ 599.00 gun value price for it is $ 660.00. Depends on the condition your gun is in. I just put 200 rounds down the pipe with no malfunctions and shoots wonderfully.

Just installed my Big Dog grips on my CS-45 the slim fit model and they went on perfect and i love them. Shoots great now and hides even better IWB and BUG Vest carry on duty. Thanks Big Dog great product.

Wish there was a flush fit magazine someone would make with 5 rounds and one in the pipe. The only thing i dont like about the gun is the mag hangs out. otherwise awesome piece of hardware

Thanks to Big Dog my early production 4513TSW with the cut out grip fits me like it was made for me.

Big Dog cut some Hogue 4516 grips to fit the shorter grip frame for me. With the factory OEM grips my pinkey finger was always looking for a place to set.

With Big Dogs modified Hogues I can get a firm grip on the 4513TSW and it has raised my scores with this pistol.

The CS45 is a fine pistol. It just didn't fit my hand. Thats why I went with the slightly larger 4513TSW. Great pistols.

Thanks Big Dog!! Congrats on your CS45 totin'45! Regards 18DAI.
