Which model of the Shorty 9's are more desirable the 5906 or 6906.

The 5906 is a full size pistol (15 round mag) the 6906 is it's little brother,(12 round mag). If you want to go smaller, the 39 series is single stack. And even smaller is the CS9.

The shorty -9 is a performance center gun, alloy frame but different rails, bushing, very nice, accurate, also cost more that a standard 6906,other later version are had adjustable sights, and the RSR version call the RECON any and all are good guns the single stack 3914/3913 are exceptional values and really good guns. Good luck

Ones that seemed to be LNIB/new have sold for that much in online auctions this year. In fact I think some were going for more at the end of last year. There seemed to be a run on them for a while.

I don't recall seeing the 9mm shorty/PC/Recon ones pop up near as often as the .40 version so _some_ people seem to really go after them.

Of course they’ve also gone or not gone for less too.

Don that would be at the top end for a ANIB shorty 9, sometimes as with all things they might sell for more.I got one (RECON) a year ago ,ANIB,never fired by the original owner for 1000.It just depends how bad you want a ANIB gun.One thing about it ,they probably arent going to make more so its up to you.You keep saying 5906 shorty -9, Well I think, someone here would know , their was a run of 5906's with 3.5 top ends,so that would be like a 5906 shorty 9,I think they were 5906 PC 9's or something like that ,Ive never seen one ,dont know how rare so that gun might be worth more. Good luck Bob

They are all on a 6900 size frame, early Shorty 9s' and Shorty-Fortys were offen labeled Shorty 5906 or Shorty 4006. But they were compact guns, not just slides. Short slide variations of the 5906 were the Lew Horton 5967 all steel and the 5943ssv and 5903ssv alloy framed guns with full size grips.

$1200 seems a lot, but if you want it, go for it.

I picked one up last year with no box or accessories. It wasn't in LNIB condition though, and I had some extraction issues, but S&W took care of everything.

Its probably more accurate than me, reliable, and I carry it everyday
