Which is better: 422/622/2206 or 22A? 22A looking like a loser...
After shooting several hundred rounds through both my 422 6" and my 22A-1 7" models this past weekend, I thought I'd start and argument/poll.
I say the 422/622 series is the superior of the two. How say the rest of you?

+1 for the 2206. All stainless steel construction, good balance and easy maintenance. My 4.5" from the early 90's has functioned flawlessly for almost 20 years with 1000's of rounds down the pipe.

My vote is also for the 2206. I prefer stainless steel in everything but a carry gun where weight is a factor.

My 422/622 was, in my opinion, a much better overall gun than my 22A-1. If I were seeking another .22lr pistol it would definitely be a 422 or 622.

My current plinker is a 2206, adjustable rear sight, with a 6" barrel. It is a great target gun. But, I also owned a 422, fixed sight, with a 4 1/2" barrel in the past. That was a great trail gun. So, all of the 422/622/2206 models have my vote. I'll throw the 2213 and 2214 in there as well. I have yet to own one, but I think they are very high on the "Neat Scale".

I know I'm in the minority, but I'm choosing the 22A. I had a 422 and really liked it, but I also like my 22A. The shoot equally well, and the 22A breaks down easier. I do have to admit my 422 was a little bit more cool, with the wood stocks and matte blued finish, though

Man I sure do hear a lot of 22A owners bragging about their guns, but they sure aren't placing votes in this pole. Maybe its because they've never shot the 422/622/2206 series and don't know how big of a backwards step the 22A really was.

My 2206 is a great .22 LR, I can tell you it's a real tack driver.
Even with an inexpensive Red-Dot.
No problems to date, it digests everything I feed it.
Wish I could find some more PMC "Scoremaster" 40 gr. Solid - "22SM" ammo......
I've got two M41's, 5.50" and 7.00" and the 2206 with it's 6.00" barrel is just as accurate.

I have a 2206 and really like it though I have not shot any other models to campare it to.
I'm currently looking to install some kind of light rail for night time shooting.

Man, I thought this poll would be closer if not going to the 22A. I definitely prefer the 422 and siblings, but I figured I'd be in the minority or it would be closer to a 50/50 split. I better shut up now before everyone else realizes that they are better than the current product and the prices start going up!

I really enjoy my 622, lightweight, reliable and accurate. Makes a perfect "boonie" gun when just plinking.

Just ordered a 22a with a 5.5" barrel. I'm sure it's not the best out there but the dealer says it's a very reliable gun and at less than $250, what more can I ask.

I've never fired a 22a but I have owned a 2206 - 6" for the last 9 months. In that time I've run about 3k through it. It likes SV ammo and boy, is it accurate! I consider it a poor man's model 41.

I thought I was the only one still using the PMC "scoremaster" ammo! I just used up the last 100rnds. that I had leftover from my indoor bullseye league days. I've looked all over the internet but I have yet to find anymore.

Start going up?? Hell, have ya seen the prices of a decent specimen lately?! I had the chance over the summer to buy a 2206 and a 422 for what now seems to be a ridiculous price. I opted to pass on the 422 and bought the 2206. Now I wish I had bought the 422 as well.IMO they are superior to the 22A's

I got my 422 three years ago for $150.00 because the seller didn't like how unreliable it was. (He didn't clean it, EVER). I love the series and have a 422, 622, 2213. They all will out shoot, my MK I, Neos, and Buckmark. A clean, lubed 422 series will eat any 22LR you feed it.

Well I don't know how good a poll will do when the 422/2206 series have been out of production now for almost 15 years. I've had them all and did like the 2206 series which are harder find yet. Always thought the 422/622s' were too light, all of them were harder to clean than the 22a/s series, not as easy to install Red Dots' or scopes. I've had good luck with the 22a/s guns, a few minor issues but all in all a good gun for the price. I hope there will be more aftermarket parts available for them in the furture.

I know this thread is dated, but I have to chime in. I've had the pleasure of owning and shooting both the 22A and a 622. I enjoy both, but my 22a (or rather the 22S) has become my favorite. Soots great and goes all day as opposed to my 622 which has always caused me some angst when it came to reliability and accuracy. Junoir is now carrying the 622 on our hikes while I carry the 22S.

I just landed a 2206 and will pick up at end of may. I hope it's everything as what other had stated. It felt right in my hand for both fit and balance. I can't stand 22a's fat grip.
