So there I was in the pawn shop (S&W M41)...
Don't you hate the threads that start out like that? You just know that somebody found a great deal, the likes of which you'll never see in a million years...
Well, it finally happened to me. I was in a local gun/pawn shop, and happened to see a S&W M41 sitting all alone on the absolute bottom display shelf. It was in what looked to be an original S&W factory blue box and appeared to be OK, so I asked to see it. What I found was an A- prefix gun dating to 1981 in what looked to be new condition, with its correctly numbered box (in great condition), with a second magazine (also like new), all of the original paperwork, and even the tool kit with screwdriver... all for a $600 asking price. I figured if I'd already been this lucky, I might as well ask the dealer if he'd take $50 off the price. Well, he said "Yes", and here she is:
Now I just hope she shoots as good as she looks!

Well done!
I have a local P&G like that-can be expensive.
Feed it some nice standard velocity ammo and have fun.

I see you found one of the Chinese knock-offs that have been flooding into the states! Let this be a lesson for everyone, you can tell it's a fake by the number of grooves in the slide, real S&W's have 10, the fakes have 9, and the lower should have 4 pins not three. Also the stamping on the barrel incorrectly states 22lr where S&W always stamped with a period first, .22 LR .
Hopefully it shoots okay for you though!!!!
APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!
That would be my luck though, to find a good deal then find out it is stolen or a fake!! Nice buy on the gun! Wish I could find a deal like that!

Nice Snag!
Actually, I kind of liked your lead-in to the story. It meant that it was going to be a story that you would enjoy telling. Thanks.

Sweet deal, and congratulations to a S-W Forum member for snagging this. It pays to stop at the local pawn shops.

Sweeeeeeet find and congrats. In the metro NY area they have no pawn shops like this so such a event won't happen to me.I have been lucky with Gunbroker.Got a 1971 Nickel Detective Special that was near new for 350 dollars thanks to overflashed pics that made the Nickel look bad.I just picked up a Cobra with some holster wear and a Tyler T Grip for 350 dollars also........Enjoy your new toy....Mike
