Default S&W Body Guard 380???

I need some help on a BG 380 as I know nothing about them. I have a friend in another state that just bought a BG and had 3 failure to fire on the first box of ammo. The ammo he was using was Tula from Wal Mart. I don't know if they were light strikes or not and I doubt if he does either. Have these guns had any problem with failure to fire or do you think it might be hard primers. Thanks for any comments. Don

He needs to try other ammo-Tula is cheap ammo with questionable reliability.

I have the same issue on the cheap Russian, Czech, Ukraine type ammo. I kind of buy-in on the hard primer theory. I can always get the round to fire on the 2nd/3rd trigger pull.
I have never had the issue with quality ammo.

I recently bought a BG380. I took it to the range with Hornady Critical Defense, Fiocchi 95 grain FMJ and American Eagle 95 grain FMJ. The gun was flawless after 30 Hornady CD's and 50 each of Fiocchi and AE. The gun was accurate and the laser didn't need to be adjusted. I'm very happy.

I'd say it is the individual pistol. We have sold many Bodyguard 380s with nary a complaint (except that we can't get a second one for the wife for a day or two...).

I second the opinion on the Russian ammo having hard primers. I ran one box through my BG380, and about a third of them FTF'd. They all went on the second or third strike (a nice thing about the BG380 is that's an option). I've only ever had one FTF with "good ammo", and that was one of the first few rounds I ran through a brand new gun (and it went on the second strike).

I really like my BG380 - just don't get too wound up in some of the very early production issues (serial numbers EAA or EAB prefixes). To me, it's the best CCW option going (for those times when I can't hide a hand cannon).

Mine has been reliable with wwb. The only problem was the laser activation and that was fixed perfectly with the q tip fix.

Default Quality ammo for quality weapons.

If you are shooting cheap ammo chances are your weapon will malfunction. I own a BG .380 and shoot quality ammunition through it with great results. I realize that the current price of ammunition has shooters looking for less expensive products, but a little more money may save you a whole lot of frustration. Some of the ammo mentioned is dirty and corrosive. My BG .380 is a great weapon and I am confident that as long as I clean it and fire quality ammo through it, I will have no problems . I do have one complaint. The laser buttons are extremely hard to manipulate. I really don't use them and realize it is marketing on the part of S&W, but I thought I would mention it.
