Default Model 41 - 5 1/2" barrel works, 7" not so much

I picked-up an older (serial #469xx) model 41 with the 5 1/2" barrel. It shoots all six types of ammo that I have tried in it without any problems. I have a 7" barrel from my "A" series model 41 two barrel set. The 7" barrel will not function properly with any of my six standard velocity loads or any of the four high speed loads that I have tried.
The slide does not close completely on at least one round per magazine.

The 7" barrel works fine with the "A" series gun.

Any thoughts or suggestions from you M41 experts?

Mark

I am no expert but I have a 7 inch with muzzle brake A series model 41 and it didn't function well with the recoil spring that was in it when I bought it so I replaced it with a new one and it functioned fine afterward with standard verlocity ammo. If the recoil spring is weak it could be causing the problem with the heavier 7 inch slide.

I am pretty sure there is no difference in the slide between a 7" or a 5.5" Mod 41.

Make sure that the 7" barrel is fully seated and that there is enough clearance between the slide and the barrel extension. Also, make sure the extractor fits its slot in the barrel breech and does not hang up.
