Default 5906 restoration

Hello everyone. New to the forum and new to 3rd gen S&W. I bought a Leo turn in for a project and now I'm hooked!
Got her for $350 on the interwebs. Stripped her down to the bare frame and then bead blasted at local engine rebuild shop for $20.
Added new Wolff main and firing pin springs. New Meprolight night sights. And new S&W polymer grips.
Looks and shoots like new!
Now to find a reasonably priced 4506!

Very nice. I have a 6946 I need to do this with. I just got done touching up a 5904, it came out pretty good.

BTW, What is the part number for the sites you installed?
I contacted them and they said they didn't have a set for S&W Third gens.

Looks like a terrific job! I'd love to see how close a $20 bead blast brings it to looking original. Even if not "perfect", it sure looks great in the pictures.

Here are some close ups I took to show a couple of dings that did not come out. They show the finish a little better. The shop uses #8 bead.

Okay wise guy! Poor old TTSH has his hands full these days fighting anti-2A tyranny. I'm done with 3rd Gens for the time being. I even passed on a very nice used Model 4566 (non-TSW) today. Broke my heart but priorities must be elsewhere for now.

That said, the OP did a great job! I congratulate him!

It's not just me that needs support. Every gun owner in this crazy, hostile, anti-2A state needs support right now.

But let's not derail this thread. I congratulate the OP again for a really nice clean-up job.

You are to be congratulated sir! Your 5906 truly does look like new. Maybe a beat up and beat down 3rd Gen is in my future as a project gun.
