Default New to me 1006

Just traded into a 1006. Its S/N is TS 982XX. Any idea when it was produced? The thing looks like it is built like a tank and is in very good condition. It should make a nice addition to it's 610 revolver brother.

Need to recheck the serial number, should have three letters followed by four numbers.
That said, all of them were made from 1990 to 1993.

Thank you Jim. I am pretty versed on the Smith revolvers but have only owned a few Smith autos. Is this what is called a third generation? What were the first and second generation guns?

That is a Third generation, I believe they only made the 10mm in the 3rd gens. Congrats, I'm very jealous.

I emailed S&W twice this year asking for build dates and they emailed them back to me in a couple days. Surprised they told you you needed the $50 report

Just post the first part on here, I know a lot these guys have the book and are nice enough to look it up. That's how I found out my 5906 was made in 93 and my 4006 was made in 94.

Ah, gotcha.

The first part of the serial is TCW37XX. Model 4506, square trigger guard and adjustible sights.

I emailed S&W and got a response from a very helpful area rep. He said the factory could look up the details, but that its the same process they use for ID'ing collectors guns and that it would cost $50 to process.

Book shows TCB falling in 1988 and TED in 1989 so your TCW likely falls in that date range.

Email them the SN and ask them if yours falls under the grip recall. They emailed me back with the mfg date.
