My Nickel 39-2 Is Home. Sunglasses Required!
It's been a long ten days but I picked up my 39-2 today. It has the box and all this paperwork including documentation of previous owners. Seems the gun was bought new in Alaska in 1980. Then sold for $250. It was $425 OTD by the time it got to me. I gave my son my great little 3913 but it has a gritty DA trigger compared to this one. It has an unbelievably smooth DA pull. And crisp SA let off. I wonder if it was worked on.
I love it and have a pair of Executioners bone grips waiting for me as we speak. This is a fine piece.

Wow - that is a sharp looking pistola! Congrats! Let us know how she shoots.
And I forgot to mention -- I was actually wearing sunglasses when I read your post, but didn't see the end of your post title until after I posted (iphone). I'm glad I had them on -- hellooooooo BLING!

You have a nice looking 39-2 there. Especially with the box, paperwork and spare magazine. Enjoy your pistol and let us know how it shoots.

I've already replied to this post, but I kept thinking about how darn cool that gun looks. Man, that thing is sweet. You, sir, have just determined what my next Smith will be. 39-2's lookout!

Good luck on your quest. I just found a blue one semi-locally on consignment for a $450 asking price. If I can dig up $400 maybe I'll make an offer on it, too.
Engine49guy, thanks for posting that picture. It kind of shows me what these Executioner bone elks will look when they I get them. I just ordered them.

What a classic pistol! I'll look forward to seeing it with those new grip panels in place.

Beautiful gun!
I'm "in between" 9mm's at the moment. I've been considering a BHP, since that has been my favorite 9 for a long time, but am now re-considering!

Very nice piece, and having the history is a great bonus! There is something about nickel isn't there? I have a 586 in nickel and I always get nice comments on it when I take it to the range, as I'm sure you will! Again, very nice.

I bought a nickel 39-2 about a month ago. I shoot it better than my M&P 9 pro series LOL. The ole 39 is a total tack driver.
Gratz on a sweet pickup!

Make sure we see that new combination when your grips come in. Can't get enough of the classic "39's" with custom grips. Those grips look great!

Ok, All the 39-2's here look Great... But, I got mine free! - My Father in Law passed away, and My mother sent this to me along with a American Arms P08 Luger in pristine condition, just as this one is.

I would pay good money for an excellant nickle 39-2. I have only had one nickle model since they first came out and very foolishly sold it to buy a Colt Commander.
