Default New to me 6906

I picked up my 6906 I ordered from CDNN yesterday. It was really dirty, but once I cleaned up it, it looks really nice. I really don't think it was carried or shot much at all.

Here it is next with my 4006 and my 5906.

"Dude" - you are living large!

congrats- thats a nice 6906 and a great looking S&W family.

I've got a 5906 in the safe, and a 4014 waiting at the FFL's. Next planned purchases of 3rd gen's (I was being patient and waiting for the right bargains on clean weapons) were for a 3913 or Chief's Special- then hopefully a 6906. Although at the CDDN prices and the quality of the one you just got, plus looking at photos of some of the other members new CDDN 6906's- I might just have to follow your lead.

great photo- give us a range report next!

Thanks, I really like it. CDNN shipped it pretty quick, I ordered it on Tuesday and my FFL had on Thursday.

I still have to get a 4506 and a 3913. A Chief's Special would be nice, but I rarely see those these days.

Looks good.

I got one that has a stainless/flash chomed/aluminum trigger and hammer.

Why did they make 2 different triggers/hammers?

Bought my 6906 a couple of years ago and shot it for the first time about a week ago. Was very impressed with the gun. Used the 12 round magazine, and a 59 series 15 round, without any failures.
Not to get off the subject, but does Cleveland have a gun registration law, and semiauto restrictons? Was told by someone that they did. I left there 31 years ago and was considering returning for a visit. My Florida CW is supposed to be good in Ohio, and wondering what to bring with me.

I'm not sure about the city of Cleveland's gun registration, it wouldn't surprise me. I live in one of the suburbs about 30 mins east. I'm about 90% sure your cw works in Ohio. I know Ohio's works in FLA.

Default Cleveland Gun Laws

Mr. G:

Fortunately, I don't live within the Cleveland City limits- I live out in the country in Geauga County on 4 acres, backing up to a nice lake and with horse farms around. Serious Amish country is about 10 miles further east.

In all fairness, I like downtown Cleveland a lot, I just prefer living out in the suburbs or country. There are some pretty sketchy parts of town to avoid- but no more so than in most major cities. In fact I think it's a lot safer and nicer overall than Cincinnati where we previously lived.

If you have a permit you should definitely carry though.

Buckeye Fireams is a pretty good site for Ohio gun law issues, as is Ohioccw.org. There are some pretty fluid issues around carrying in Restaurants that serve alcohol - you might want to read up on it.

I believe they struck down the ordinances you were referring to. I'll put an excerpt from an article on the Buckeye Firearms site below.

Quote:
NRA: Buckeye Firearms Foundation win over City of Cleveland "a long-awaited and major victory for Ohio gun owners"
printable page
Submitted by cbaus on Tue, 05/31/2011 - 07:00. Ohio Politics BFA News NRA News
Fairfax, Va. -- Today, the Cuyahoga County Court struck down the City of Cleveland's scheme of restrictive gun laws still on the books despite Ohio law, which clearly prohibits such municipal gun ordinances. The Court ruled in favor of gun owners in the National Rifle Association-supported case of Buckeye Firearms Foundation, Inc. v. City of Cleveland.

"This is a long-awaited and major victory for Ohio gun owners, further confirming the Ohio Supreme Court decision that validated and clarified Ohio's preemption laws," said Chris W. Cox, executive director for NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. "Creating a confusing patchwork of gun laws throughout any state is unacceptable. The City of Cleveland should focus on prosecuting criminals, not enacting illegal and useless schemes that only target and entrap law-abiding gun owners."

The City of Cleveland filed suit against the State of Ohio in March of 2007, challenging changes to Ohio state gun laws that effectively preempted all municipal ordinances regarding the possession and concealed carry of handguns. Cleveland's city council passed a never-ending stream of useless and burdensome ordinances -- including forced registrations and bans on both open carry and semi-automatic firearms -- that only impacted law-abiding citizens. In 2009, Buckeye [Firearms] Foundation, Inc., with NRA's assistance, challenged these ordinances; however, the case received a stay pending the outcome of Cleveland v. State. The Court found that the state law in no way violates Cleveland's home rule powers under the Ohio Constitution; therefore today's decision reflects that of Cleveland v. State.

"Any city that tries to abuse the Second Amendment freedom of its law-abiding residents, or tries to enact bogus gun control schemes, will have the NRA fighting their efforts every step of the way," concluded Cox. "Thanks to this ruling today, law-abiding Ohioans will have one clear set of laws regarding firearms."

My 6906 with the square trigger guard was my first 3rd generation S&W, followed by a 4006 and then a 3953. All are great shooters.

I was finally able to shoot my 6906 yesterday. I ran Lawman 124gr, Winchester 115gr, and Remington 115gr through. Not a sinlge problem. My sister also shot it without a problem. She really limp wrists autos, she had an FTE with my Beretta, which that kind of shocked me.

If anyone is thinking about picking one up from CDNN, I highly recommend it. I could not be happier with this pistol. Feels great in my hand and I shoot it well.

Default 3rd Gen S&W

I picked up a 6906 from a private seller about a yr ago. Since then I've been fortunate to add a 6904, 4013 TSW and a CS9. These are overlooked gems by many. They'll be the last to leave should I ever need to liquidate any of the collection.

6906 is a great gun, I enjoy mine quite a bit. You can make it a bit "smaller" for CCW if you replace the factory pinky baseplate with a flat baseplate off a 5906. As you saw the full size mags for the 59 series work great, so you can actually have a 17- round backup mag (using Mec Gar mags).

And the CS series are kickass little guns. Get one!

I will someday, I haven't seen one in a while, and usually when I do, I just bought something and I'm out of cash.

I adore my 6906! I was dumb enough to trade it for something I just had to have, and was fortunate enough to be able to get it back. I can assure you it will never leave my grubby little hands again

I use mine for ccw in a Crossbreed Supertuck and I use a 59 series 14rd mag with the grip extension on it. Makes an awesome package.

Nice 6906, hope you like yours as much as i like mine. You need to get some mag adaptors so you can use 15 round mags in it.

Umm, whats the deal with mag adapters? Is that just to make it more comfortable? I've never used one and I've never had a bit of trouble with function from 15 rd 5906 mags...?
