I agree. My 92F came with the wood and I ended up putting plastic on it becouse they were getting beat up to bad but I still have the wood.

You have a nice set of duty pistols there. I am especially a fan of the 4006, one of the toughest and most reliable pistols out there.

Two great pistols. Just curious why did you switch to 4006?

the other 3 officers were carring 40sw glocks.I hate glocks so I traded a old romanin ak for it.I had $200 in the ak. so I would have a real 40sw.and in case something happened we could share ammo.I had to carry just 2 mags.one in the gun and one spare untill I could find another one.I went to a charlotte gunshow in 01 and found one.this was under the assualt band 10 rd limit.this bonehead was such a smart a--.I asked how much they were I needed one to carry on duty as I only had 1 extra mag.he told me how he couldnt tell me how much the mags were because he could only sell them to cops.I pulled out my badge and said next time dont be such an a--. and I walked off.two months later I found a guy selling the 4006 mags at a hickory gunshow.I explained I needed one for my duty gear.he was very nice and sold me them both for $30.I now have 10 mags for it.
I carried the beretta with one 15 rd mag and two mecar 10 round magsfor 5 months as a cop.the gunshows had the pre ban 15rd mags for $50 or more I wasnt going to pay that.then we got a new officer who came from forsyth county sheriffs office.he was in the army reserve.they carried berettas and he gave me two 15 rd mags.I now have 10 mags for it all 15s and the two 10 rd mags so a total of 12.

The Model 4006 was my department's first issue semiautomatic pistol in 1991 or so. One wasn't required to carry them, we had quite a long laundry list of personally owned pistols we could choose from and the department only bought them in small batches because money was tight. Next sort of issue semiauto was the Beretta 96 Centurion (? the short barrel, DAO .40 caliber version of the 92) because Beretta bypassed their own distribution network and sold the guns and gear directly to the department for prices the dealers couldn't touch. Pissed the dealers off. Anyone that ended up with one of the Berettas hated it with the loooooonnnnnnggggg heavy trigger pull. The 4006 gave us great service, but the lure of the Glock, with it's lightweight plastic frame and 15 round magazine became our most often carried pistol.

I bought the first 4006 I saw, a n.i.b. adjustable sight model, with a s/n in the TFH46XX range, in August, 1990. It has been really reliable. I chose to carry something else, but loaned my 4006 to a couple of the other deputies to use in our semiauto transition classes (they had their own 4006's ordered, already had their leather) and I dont think that anyone had a stoppage. We shot about 600 rounds of 180 Federal ball over 3 days.

They are good, heavy, reliable tools.

Nice looking guns. I really like wood grips on Berettas. I had a 96 that had them.

I also had a 92FS with wooden grips with a trick trigger then had less then 1/8" of pull on the trigger. You pulled it to the rear and away it went. It was really nice but I was offered quite a bit more then I had in it now kick myself of course.
