Default Question: double-stack 9 and 40 frames the same size?

Hello all, I have a question that I hope someone can answer. For 3d gen autos, does the double-stack 40 (like the 4013) use the same frame as the double-stack 9 (like the 6906), or is 9mm any smaller in the grip? I've looked at grip manufacturers like Hogue, and it appears that they sell the same grip for both the 6906 and the "shorty 40," leading me to believe they're the same size.

I ask because I've had a 4013 for the past few months which has made me a devoted fan of the S&W DA/SA auto, but it's just a smidgen too big for my hand. I could sell and go to a single-stack model, but I was wondering if the 6906 would offer any noticeable reduction in grip size.

EB:

one thing I can tell you is that there are single stack 4013's and double stack 4013's.

I believe all of the double stacks are "TSW's" or Tactical Service Weapons". Someone else can clarify this.

I have a 4014 (blackened version) and it is a single stack .40, and it's two mags hold 8 rounds each.

Your 4013 may be close to the 6906 but I'm not sure if it's exactly the same dimensions

A straight-up 4013 is the size of a 4516 with alloy frame and as had been mentioned, 8rd single stack magazines.

The 4013TSW use a 9rd double stack and are supposed to be the same size as the 6900 series (although a railed 4013TSW would not fit most 6900 series holsters).

Default nearly the same question

Along the same lines, I have a question about single stack and double stack models. I've noticed models with an offset in the frame above the trigger. Do all double stack models have that offset?

The grips are the same between the 6900 and 4000TSW compacts. The factory grips would be the smallest, all the aftermarket grip are larger. As for the step, most double stacks have it, the 645 and early 4500s' had it before the 10mm came out and they switched frames.

Not the answer I was hoping to hear, but thanks. Sounds like I'll have to go single-stack if I want something thinner than my 4013.
