Default How to keep Hogue grips on the gun ??

HI...

I just get back for shooting my new(use) SW 3913 with Hogue rubber grips on it.

when I shoot about 2 mag, grips slipps off from the bottom of the frame but I push it back, and again firing a few shots the grip slipps off again.

I check every thing is fit good but still slipps off after shooting some more, I only use 115 FMJ WWB band

do I do anything wrong ?

any trick or anything I need to get this grips stay on gun.
or should I chang back to OEM S&W grips(plastic).

thank for help

I definitely prefer the factory delrin grips (plastic).

They look great, are very rugged, and give a slimmer profile for concealed carry

Sounds like you didn't replace the original grip pin back in the Hogue adaptor to secure it to the frame.

I just use grips screws that come with this grips and plastic piece that holds the mainspring cup between the grip panels.

do I need to use Factory Grips Pin that come with gun also?

I mean ...use grips pin instant of grips screws from hogue.
if I only use grips pin, do I still need to use mainspring cup also...YES or NO.

thank again

Here is a 5906 but yours should be the same. The additional Hogue spring attachment is held together using the original pin from the original grips.

edit: alittle better clarification

Yes pin and yes cup in addition to the screws. On my hogues the pin was harder to get in than on the delrins. I have since gone back to the delrins

Default Grip fix

I had a long discussion with a "grip expert" at last week's gun show. He said no pin was to be used with the Hogues. I don't think he was correct. Mine slip off my 5906 just as described by the OP taking the trigger spring with them of course. The original pin mikes .140" in diameter. ( 9/64" ) by about 1.10 length. Either replace the original pin or get anything about an inch long in .125-.140 diameter. (Drill rod, sawed off nail, steel modeling rod. etc.) Insert this in the original pin location. This will keep the block in place and the grips are fastened to the block and will keep the pin in place. Problem solved! A lot of the 5906's on the market are coming through with no pins. The gun is not reliable without a pin of some sort.

You need to replace the mainspring cup (bottom of the spring, where it connects to the rear of the butt of the gun, under the grips) with the one supplied with the Hogue grips. It is secured to the frame with a pin.

The grips are then slid up and on to the butt.

The grip screws are then installed, attaching the grips to the new mainspring cup. Since the cup is attched to the frame via pin, and the grips are attached to the cup via screw, the assembly is solid.

Those slip on grips would probably hold the grips in place and add the finger grooves too!
