Question Mystery Model 669 "A" Engraved (Need Info) **INFO/PICTURES ADDED**

At the April 2011 Friends of the NRA Dinner here in Rochester NY, I learned from a widow of a local dealer who sat with us at our table, that she was going to sell part of her late husband's gun collection. I went to look at the guns the next week, and spotted and decided to buy the below fully engraved Model 669.
While waiting to acquire the gun (all the paperwork, transfers etc., that needed to be done), I decided to do some research on the gun. Using the S&WCA Spring of 2006, which had an excellent article covering Model 39's and related 9MM pistols, I learned that the Model 669's were introduced in 1985, beginning at serial number TAE001. The first 100 guns were set aside for special orders, with 25 of them being "A" engraved by an outside contractor, however it took 10 years for all of the engraved guns to be sold. My Model 669 is fully engraved and is serial number TAE0031, making it one of the first 100, and one of the 25 engraved. Well, curious to see when it left/shipped from the S&W factory I asked Mr. Jinks on the S&WCA side of this forum for a shipping date. The only information Mr. Jinks could provide was that the gun had left the factory in June of 2011, and that it might have laid around for along time. Mr. Jinks said there was no more information available. I then contacted one of the forum moderators snw19 357, Chris, who has alot of knowledge/information concerning S&W automatic pistols, and he said to contact the S&W service dept, as they had helped him in the past. I called the factory and got the same information that Mr. Jinks had provided, I was also told that there were some problems with records from the 1980's. This gun is now a mystery, as it was made in 1985 (there is an engraved circle on the right side of the muzzle end of the slide which has 1985 engraved inside of it), but the official date it actually left the factory was June 2011. The original owner/dealer had this gun in his possession prior to his passing 2 1/2 years ago, and I saw it in April 2011, so something is not right time frame wise. I had spoken to the widow after I bought the gun hoping to get further information from her, however she really didn't have anything more to offer to help me. There was no receipt with the gun, and no other information with the one piece cardboard box it came with other than the model, serial number and that it was engraved. I am also curious to know if these 25 engraved guns came with factory provided presentation cases, similar to the first 100 engraved Model 469's.
If any forum member owns one of these 25 engraved Model 669s, or knows someone that does, and could provide any additional information that might help me to further secure some provenance for it, it would be greatly appreciated.
I've included a picture of the gun in a custom made display case I had made for the gun while waiting to take possession of it, the right side of the gun, and the gun with a full-house DEVEL Model 59 to show the similarity between the two, and possibly where the S&W factory got the idea to make the mini-guns they had gone on to produce.

Another person I know dealing in guns sent me (2) pictures of another engraved Model 669 serial number TAE0035 which is four numbers above mine. My question has been answered that the gun I just bought should have a factory inscribed presentation case besides the factory cardboard box with it. No shipping date was given for this gun TAE0035 however, and maybe that's why there is no case present with mine because of the late shipping date from the factory. Still a mystery?
