Trigger has a bump on it so it will fit better, ejection port is a smidge bigger, grip panels are different, Look at the website, I think they list all the "upgrades".

As I recall, some other interesting "Enhanced Model" differences are the titanium firing pin, no firing pin safety and an oversize extractor.
The Commander size model can be had with the unique "Bobtail" grip frame, too.

Cag, if your like most of the criminal defense lawyers around here you are always giving someone a deal, or working for free for a deserving soul. Or maybe you're made out of money. Either way consider a higher quality 1911.
Life is short. It’s not so much about how many guns you own, but quality. Buy yourself a really nice 1911. No Kimber, no S&W, something expensive like Wilson or Nighthawk. Wilson has been in business a long time. They just replaced 8 47d Mags I sent them asking for new springs and to check the feed lips, with 8 brand new mags at no cost.
In 1996 I bought two Wilson Combat 1911’s and have never looked back. They are not safe queens, and have shot many IPSC matches, as well as plenty of carry time.
That was after my first of six trips to Thunder Ranch and the front sight fell off of the Colt Combat Elite I was so proud of.

Emory I got to tell you, I have the S&W 1911 with the ambi safety and adjustible sights and without a doubt it is the best pistol I have ever owned. It is also my first 1911 I have ever owned. I'm square in the first category you mentioned-do wayyyyy too much for free and ain't made of money by a long shot. But it be what it be. As my priest tells me, I'm right where God wants me-so quit bitchin' kick back and enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry! What did I miss along the way here? I've seen a number of posts here, and elsewhere, knocking the S&W 1911s. I can't for the life of me figure out why. I've got one and it's an extremely nice, reliable, well built, good looking, and satisfactory firearm. I've not had a single problem with mine, and I don't expect to.
There is this mindset with some people that high cost equals great value and great utility. "Ain't" so! I'm not in any way knocking the quality of the high priced "spread" in the 1911 world. They are top quality guns. But, I really don't think they offer any more utility than a gun of the quality of a S&W. They sure don't offer a better bang for the buck. They've all severely pasted the point of "diminishing" returns for the dollars invested.
If you like the Smiths, go for it. They're damn good guns. If you've got the money for the others, and they're what flips your switches, then go for them. But even though they cost 2, 3, 4, or even 5 times as much as the Smith, you won't get 2, 3, 4, or even 5 times the return on your investment in terms of utility, usefulness, or even satisfaction. Well, But, to some, satisfaction comes from the price!
Good Luck on your purchase here, whatever you buy!
