does your hand hurt after shooting the bodyguard .380?
i have the ruger lcp and while it is reliable and i like it it is a bitch to shoot, hurts my hand and no matter what methods i try to use it is vey inaccurate for me to shoot...i am looking into the bodyguard 380 because i hear they are softer on the hands.

I recently handled an LC9 at my LGS and I knew right away it was not for me. Granted it is small, but it is too narrow for my hands. What good is a gun that is purchased to conceal if you drop it after the first shot or you can't hit the broad side of a barn with. I'm sure they are fine for some but I have big hands. I have an old S&W model 36 that I have tried several type of grips on before settling on a set of compact Pachmayers. I can finally shoot this small frame revolver with accuracy & confidence. My advice for a CCW is to buy the smallest one that feels comfortable to you, everything else is secondary.

I don't have a Bodyguard but I was shooting my Colt Mustang a couple of day ago and the difference between that and a LCP is like night and day. Probably close to shooting my Keltec .32.

I have had both and it seemed to me that the BG380 was more comfortable to shoot than the LCP,especially when shooting more than one box of ammo during any one range trip. After a couple of boxes, you can tell the difference.

I only shot a friends BG380 on one occasion, but I did not feel any discomfort at all. I thought it shot well for such a small gun.

Quite the opposite, mine is just plain fun to shoot! It's silly how soft the recoil is for such a small gun, my only complaint is I never seem to bring enough ammo for it.

No pain what so ever with my BG380. In fact it's just as comfortable as my Springfield XDm9 3.8. Ergos are great on this little gun, very controllable smooth recoil. I could shoot this gun all day at the range and be fine. In fact, I've been finding myself shooting the 380 way more than any of my many other guns; it's just that much fun to shoot!

Way more comfortable than an LCP to shoot.

I was actually quite surprised at how comfortable the BG380 was compared to the lcp and that's what sold me on it.

In the many handguns I've fired at the range, I only found the PPKS to be uncomfortable after a box or two of ammo. I believe I found the reason, and by sharing it, perhaps it will help someone else with similar problems on other guns. It might apply to some of the guns mentioned in this thread.
The best way to illustrate the problem is to put your (right) hand in a position as if you're holding a pistol, with your finger on the trigger. Look down on it from above. Your index finger and thumb form a backwards "C".
On most guns, the backstrap of the grip rests in the approximate center of the web formed by your thumb and index finger. But, if your index finger is short, you compensate by rotating the "C" counterclockwise to rest the tip of your index finger properly on the trigger.
By this rotation of your hand, the backstrap now rests on a bone at the base of your thumb. Repeated pressure on this bone from the recoil of the gun makes it sore.
Padding might help, but it's a clash between the geometry of the grip, trigger and your finger.
I'm interested to hear if anyone else has a similar problem, and if they came to a similar conclusion.
Hope this helps.
Fred

My trigger finger became too fatigued to squeeze off any more rounds with my new BG 380 after firing 19 shots at the range, but my hand didn't hurt. I am disappointed the trigger is so hard to pull now that I am trying to improve my aim.

The only problem I have with the BG is that I use a very high grip on all my pistols and the slide eats the web between my index and thumb. I have to readjust my grip while shooting at the range it I draw the gun and shoot I get slide bite. I wouldn't worry about it in a SD event and would hope that was the only place I was bleeding. My practice reloads are max loads to match the Critical Defense I carry and they are petty snappy in this gun. I do shoot it well out to 10yds at 15 I will still get hits with every shot. i do like the gun and pocket carry everyday in a Sticky holster.
