Smith 1006/4506 questions
Did any of the 1006's have squared trigger guards like the early 4506's?
like this one here:
S&W 4506 Smith + Wesson Pickup in Deerfield, Ohio : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com
And has anyone tried putting on the 1076/1026 grips (the ones with palm swells) on either 4506 or 1006 and how well do they work and look compaired to the stock grips?
Also when it comes to the finishes of the 4506 was there an option to have the slide or the frame polished from the factory? I keep seeing ones with either the frame or the slide polished from different sources like here with what I presume is a polished frame
‪Smith & Wesson Mod 4506 advanced takedown‬‏ - YouTube
or the all beadblasted finish like on that first 4506

I believe S&W had gone to the round trigger guard by the time the 10's came out. Grips are interchangeable. I don't believe the factory ever had polished finishes, any factory polished slide would have the laser marking/warning intact.

Usually the polished frame/slide was done by the owner to remove scuffs in the bead blast or personal preference.

The 1026/1076 grips should fit fine, but will be cut back on the left for the decocker, it's up to you whether they'll look OK for you or not.

Kavinsky, There are Curved grips which are not as thick (side to side) as the Palm Swell that you might wish to consider for the 3rd gen.
The three grips are straight back, curved back and palm swell, see this link.

Thanks so basically the ones with the polished slides/ frames were done by people with momas mag polish who did it out of their own accord?
interesting note on that grip page that the palm swell grips in Xtroopers opinion only work for people with bigger hands which would explain why I always prefer the palm swelled pachmayr grips when it comes to revolvers yet alot of people like the flat hogue grips.
although my bigest problem with hogues is that they retain alot of body heat and get sticky after shooting a gun fitted with them or hold one after awhile while the pachmayrs dont.
