S&W Model 422 question
Years ago I bought a new Model 422 6" .22. It was light with fixed sights but shot really well! Was reliable too, did not jam like my 622 stainless 6" did. I traded both long ago but now have no .22 semi-auto. How do those little 422's hold up, are they tough and worth looking for? Can I expect to need any parts on a used one and if so are they available? Thank you!

Don't blame you!
I wish I had kept the one I bought back around 1991, it was a good one. Small cost, gooood shooter!

I don't have a single bad thing to say about mine. The only time I ever had a malfunction that couldn't be attributed to cheap ammo was when the screws holding the side plate backed out a little. The sideplate was just loose enough to allow the internals to move around a bit. Easy to fix and not another problem with them backing out since. I've probably got 5000+ rounds through it. It's seen several configurations, from standard iron sights, to scoped, then red dotted. The most recent was the addition of a Bushnell TRS-25 (micro dot clone). I also went ahead and filed the front sight off so that I could turn the mount around. Much easier to disassemble now and with the micro dot it balances perfectly. Next up is making the trigger guard truly square, and checkering the front strap.

Nice one there, thanks!
Thanks GDogs. Reminds me of what my former (now retired and maybe dead) gunsmith told me long ago about his experience with 422 with an Aimpoint - "Shoots like a house afire!" Saw ONE 422 on GB yesterday for about $425 and not really cherry or excellent. Did NOT know they could fetch that much! Nice reply....
