Default BG380 Thumb safety too stiff?

Have you guys been having problems with the thumb safeties being too stiff?

LGS sent me one NIB that nearly drew blood to move either way...pretty much had to use the cap from a pen to move it. I reworked it down to a reasonable effort and sent it back.

Now he called and says they have 3 more out of 5 that are nearly as bad, and needs them all reworked as well.

Why is S&W shipping them this way?
Are they aware of the problem?
Do they have any reps on this forum? - Josh M.

I just purchased a Bodyguard 380 serial # EAS....... and the safety moves fairly easy off and a bit harder on. Either way it is a comfortable push with the thumb. My Dad recently purchased one with serial # EAR.... and the safety works harder in both directions. Not sure if S&W has made some changes recently or if it's the luck of the draw.

With the long stiff double action trigger pull, I consider the safety redundant and actually a liability to getting your weapon in action quickly no matter how easy or hard it is. The one time I checked it, the safety went on kind of hard but off rather easily on my weapon.

I have a friend at church that recently complained about that same issue with his new BG380. It's unfortunate that S&W can't exercise better quality control than that, especially on a new design.
