Default Model 64 vs 67

Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum. Still the conclusion that the Steyr M-A1 is an great gun holds.

I went to my first gun show yesterday and I don't think I'm going to find a .38 with a 4 inch barrel there used. At least one in a condition I'd be confident shooting.

So now I'm looking at what S&W is currently selling and I'm finding little if any difference in the Model 64 and 67. A rear adjustable sight in the 67 is all I can see. Neither have a fiber optic front sight or even the option to install one.

For good or bad S&W is it for revolvers and if they are no longer interested in building guns in .38 caliber in anything other than snub nose than that 9mm Steyr M-A1 is looking very good.

You need to brush up on your web skills and do a bit more reading up on revolvers.

For example, are you aware that any 357 Magnum can also shoot the 38 spl? Once you take that into consideration you'll find there is a rather wide selection of revolvers capable of shooting the 38 spl.

As for the model 64 and 67 differences, they remain in the catalog due to popularity. Fact is a 4 inch K frame has a superb balance and stainless steel is MUCH MUCH more use friendly than either blued steel or nickle. However, if you want a blued steel 38 that is a good choice for target shooting, the model 14 Classic is still being sold. There is also the model 10 and the model 15, both blued steel 4 inch revolvers with either fixed or target sights.

If these don't fit what you are looking for, then take a look at the model 686 lineup, you can currently get them from 2.5 inches up to 6 inches in either 6 or 7 shot 357's. If you want an even longer barrel length, the 8 3/8 inch 686 is rather common on the used market.

There is also the used market, which is simply VAST.
