Default S&W 559 value?

I have a chance to buy a 599 for $279. The gun shows some honest wear mostly from holstering. But it still looks good, not abused. Would this be a fair price for a shooter?

Sounds like a very fair price to me.

The 559 was very low production. In NIB condition they bring a premium. $279 for a used example is a great deal IMO.

Buy it!!! That's a very reasonable price.

I have one... it's heavier than my 4006, but I still like it.

They were only made for 3 years, numbering around 10,000, versus 459 that was made for 9 years.

Thanks guys.

It was a 439 not a 559 for $279. They did have a 559, I got the two confused somewhere between the gun shop and the computer. I always try to research models I'm unfamiliar with prior to buying. Anyways the 559 was priced at $450. The condition is almost like new. If it has been fired it was very little, I see no signs of wear. It comes with the box, spare mag, papers etc. This actually good news to me as I prefered it to the 439 since it has lower production numbers than the 439. I like my guns to be in pretty good shape anyways. So I put it on layaway, should have it in two weeks.

This will be my first 2nd gen S&W, so I'm kind of excited. I have a 3rd gen 1066, this was my my 1st S&W auto. I really like it and have started to get interested in the older 1st-3rd generation guns. I've been a big revolver fan since the 80's. I currently have 24 S&W revolvers.
