S-W Model 1911 PD
Has S&W quit making this pistol? This is the scandium frame and 4 1/4" bbl. with the black finish and wood grips. It is still being shown, but over to the side it says out of stock.

I believe it would be the E series 1911 now. They make it with the 41\4 barrel. Check this..
Product: Model SW1911Sc<br>E-Series™, Round Butt, Scandium Frame

Thanks for all the research. I noticed that all the 1911PD's that were advertised by the shops were "out of stock." This usually means that they are not being made anymore. I will keep an eye on gun broker.com. Thanks again.

Well, I got an email from S-W today saying that the 1911PD (Commander Compatible) had been discontinued, but they are making similar models. I guess if I want one the 1911 PD, I will be looking for one online.

If you want a PD, here's one for $650 LNIB, 50-100 rounds through it. I can't believe this will be available for long. If I didn't already have one, It would be mine. Actually if I had the extra dough it would be mine now..

Good for you. I am sure you will enjoy it. I clicked on the link you gave me and I would have to join before I could poke around. Must be a pretty tight forum.

5" 1911 PD
I have a PD with a 5" barrel that I bought in 2008. It seemed they stopped making the 5" Government model shortly after that. I've always wondered why. Was there a problem with them? Most of my guns are S&W from snubbies to ARs but I only have 1 1911 so don't have anything to compare with.
