Anxiously await the S&W single stack 9mm
Anyone know how much longer I have to wait?
Especially with the recent introduction of Beretta's modestly priced Nano.
I'm not fond of either Ruger's or Kel-Tec's offerings and the Walther PPS and Sig P290 seem a bit over priced for what one's getting.
I love my 442 but I know S&W has an awesome 9mm up their sleeve.

I'm guessing it will be a Bodyguard 9, but hopefully without the laser.
I had a Kel-Tec PF-9 for a while. I wanted it to be a reliable gun so badly, but it wasn't. The magazine ejected itself under recoil and it had light primer strike issues. Both are "fixable" but destroy your confidence in the gun. A quality pocket-rocket 9mm from S&W would sell pretty well I imagine.

Very nice Laddy Smith!
Based on the last ten years of S&W handguns, I seriously doubt we will see a single stack 9mm as nice as the 3900 series......from S&W anyway. Regards 18DAI.

S&W single stack 9mm? I figured that's what the CS9 was. It's a little bigger than the Kel-Tec but not by much, and it's far and away a better firearm. Or were you wanting a polymer single stack 9mm?
I agree on the 3900 series, they're really good. I looked around for a 3913 for CCW but a 908 fell into my lap at a ridiculously good price, and I carried it until I went to a .45 ACP Model 457.

I just shot my new (to me) 3913 today. It is an amazing little gun. I have been carrying either a Kahr CW9 or CM9 for a while now. This guy will find it's way into the rotation.

3953TSW
LadySmith - The grip looks a little shorter than a 3953 grip. Is that a 7 rd mag? I like the way the mag is flush with the bottom of the grip.
Very nice pistol.

I'm excited about the Beretta Nano coming next month. About the size of the (also excellent) Kahr PM9 which means pocket carry is a realistic option.
If S&W trots out a BG 9mm with the laser, then I'll pass.
The CS9 is a great little pistol, if a little hard to find.

The early 3913TSW pre-rail is my favorite, short grip, no luggage rack and nice rounded contours. Now a similar M&P would be a good addition in my opinion.

If Smith would come out with a polymer single stack 9 it would be nice if the magazine were the same as the 3913 series

I already have a single stack S&W in 9MM. It's called a Model 39-2, and how sweet it is!

One of the auction sites has many 3913 pistols from the California Dept of Corrections on sale in the $400 range.

I have the BG380 and I believe it is a great little pistol due to it's sights and lockback on empty. What does the laser have to do with that?

I currently rotate a 3913-LS and a Kahr CW9. Both are very good carry pistols, but I give the edge to the Kahr for size and weight. However, I am a huge 3G fan. I have more of them than I can rationalize, so I'll always have one or two in rotation. But, I am looking for a 9mm that I can truely carry as a pocket gun.
I can't/won't rationalize the cost of a Rohrbaugh, so that leaves me still looking. I would love to have a S&W that fits my needs, but I'd have to see it first. And, like others, I would pass on one with a built-in lazer, simply because I don't want one.
I've been looking at the CM9, which when compared to the new Nano, is just a smidge smaller and almost 4 ounces lighter. You can find the CM9 for $420 all day long. But, we don't know what the Nano will be going for, yet.
So, is the rumored S&W, just that, or does someone know something? In my opinion, the smallest, lightest, most cost effictive 9mm wins; If it fits in my pocket.

what is the consensus on the Kimber Solo by any of you guys that have shot one? That would fill the bill.
My current EDC is a 4014. I love it. But I'm keeping an eye out for a CS9 or CS40 as well to have something smaller when I don't want to take the 4014.

The Kimber Solo is probably a great gun but it costs too much for me to consider. I have something against expensive guns because I see them more as utilitarian tools. I don't buy expensive hammers either.
I'm sure someone will ask the question,"what is your life worth?"
Obviously not as much as a Kimber Solo.

A guy at my local indoor range was trying to shoot his Kimber Solo last weekend. I say try because he would get off one or two rounds between failures to feed.
He told me he had "..just gotten it back from its second trip back to Kimber..". Evidently Kimber had not fixed it. No matter, he told me, and showed me, that it was going back again because the black finish was flaking off the frame.
Another expensive single shot Kimber is what I've seen. I already learned my lesson with Kimbers though. Regards 18DAI.

My 3913 fits my carry needs perfectly. The third generation smiths seem to have a fantastic record, mine never misses a beat. Good luck in your search.

re: Kimber Solo
That jibes with what I've been hearing. I plan on sticking with the 4014, and adding a CS40 or CS9 in the near future.
Plus possibly getting an LC9 for those situations that might be wetter/muddier/rougher- such as in my canoes/kayaks.

I searched the stores around here for a pocket gun... finally had the ruger lc9 follow me home. very satisfied. I really wanted to go for the kahr but couldn't get passed the rough action & break in. the several I handled had poor actions. Hard to justify ammo cost just to make a new gun work. (I know, it’s just me??) The ruger worked right out of the box. (disclaimer; I cleaned the goo first!!). The little rohrbaugh was way too rough, and with that cost?? It was a great size and hammer fired like the ruger, and at three times the cost. I even looked for a 3953 or a cs9 for quite a while, hard to find and pricy... so... the ruger will do till something better comes along. I found my answer and hope for a great solution for your quest

I think I'm coming around to the Ruger LC9. Although the trigger pull is certainly long it's much lighter than my S&W 442. And for $350 at my local shop it was pretty hard not to walk out of there with one.
Has anyone had any trigger time with the Taurus 790 slim?

You can pocket carry just about any handgun...kind of.
I've got a CS9, 3953 and 3913. They are all EXCELLENT single-stack nines. The CS9 is still a fun gun at the range, even with it's light weight and small size. I don't consider any of them "pocket guns". I have carried all three at least a few times in my right-front pocket, grips at least partially sticking out with an untucked shirt draped over them for a short trip to the store or what have you, but that doesn't make them "pocket guns" as far as I'm concerned - I could have carried a full-size duty pistol the same way.. I have carried the CS9 a little longer than that in cargo shorts pocket. It stays completely covered in the larger pocket but again, not a true "pocket gun".
For OWB or IWB carry I think the size and weight differences between these three and many other "compacts" - even double-stack guns - are negligible. IMO the only true "pocket nines" are the size of the Kel-Tec, Kahr, LC9 and the like. But even these three are a little large for all-day pocket carry as far as I'm concerned.

My wife wanted something lighter to carry than her G19. So I let her try my Kahr PM9. I usually just carry this gun when I'm walking the dogs, but DAYME this gun is a great shooter. I'm guessing that I've lost this gun now.
I do want a 3913 some day.
Don't forget the HK P7M8!

I was at a show recently talking to a guy selling his reloads, and going over what components he used, etc. He asked me type of gun I had. Told him S&W. He said "Good." According to him the only problems or complaints about his ammo was from people who had Kimbers. Apparently (and this is third hand hearsay, so multiple grains of salt may be necessary) the fine-tuning they do makes them more finicky about ammo, especially the ultra-compact versions; short slide, heavy recoil spring, etc. For the price they charge, (and I admit that hand-work isn't cheap) you'd think it would be more reliable. But, I haven't seen a Kimber owner's manual, so I don't know if it has anything to say about ammo choice. I sure haven't seen very many nice things said about Kimbers here.

I got to put in a plug for my Kahr CM9. Although there is the break in period, it now gobbles up any ammo I feed it. I only had a few slide lock-back failures in the first 50 or so. The little guns are built with tight factory tolerances. You don't want a Glock-like factory-loose micro 9mm or you will have problems down the road. I have found the main thing with Kahrs is that you have to the mag to seat the ammo against the back of the slide for it to feed perfectly. I put a CT laser and Trijicon front night sight on mine, and it rides well in the pocket with a Blackhawk #4 pocket holster.

Well just waiting to see if S&W jumps in to this pocket carry frenzy any further then with the bodyguard
a polymer framed CS would prove interesting?
