Default New 1006, and a couple questions

Picked this up recently for a good deal ($600 with 3 mags).

Noticed one of the mags has a follower with a 45 deg bevel, out of my 6 mags 2 have this and 4 are straight cut.
Which one is the later one? Was there a problem with one type?

On to the pistol, it has a number stamped on it that looks like a PD mark, but no name anywhere.
The mags are electropencil marked with a "3".
Any idea where this gun may have been issued?

A younger shooter that I've turned on to 3rd Gens really wants it, I'm holding it for him to buy as he saves money, same price I paid but I get the first option if he sells it. Ialready gave him a sweetheart deal on a 3913, so he's hooked now!

Pics or it didn't happen............

Default I will tell you one thing.

I just got my first 1006 less than six months ago. I will never sell it. It is a really good gun and fulfills my intended use for it perfectly. I am actually looking for the 1076 model now as a "compact" version of the same gun. You might just want to hang on to that gun.

The followers were redesigned a few times, and the color changed to white as well. I had white followers in my 1076 mags and yellow in my 1006 mags. They all worked just fine. I did not care for the 1076, but love this 1006. I did change the stocks to the curved backstrap design.

I have both 1006 and 1076 (for now) and always gravitate to the 1076
Maybe its the Sig style frame decocker.

S&W did have a Recall for Followers - all yellow followers were recalled for law enforcement and new white (10mm) and black (45) were furnished with newer heavy duty magazine springs. This was an enhancement and not a total recall, hence LE only got the free treatment. You can call and if they authorize the free replacement the magazines must be returned to the factory. They are very fast returning them.

Smith and Wesson Magazines ES, ES1, MS, MS1
(Older)Yellow followers 45° tip with some having the straight tip
(Newer)White followers straight tip

10XX-series a shape change to the follower

WhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaTTTTTTTTTT?

This is the first I've heard of this! When was this -- and what's the issue?

Is this on 10mm mags? Never had the slightest -- and I mean slightest -- problem with any of mine -- and I've got 12...

Default Spring issues?

It looks as if S&W supplied heavier duty springs for LE mags where the springs were under constant, long-term compression.

Wow, those are some very nice guns! Are those safe queens or do you actually shoot them?
