3913TSW price
I have a hold on a 3913 TSW, the 7 shot prerail. It's in great shape with the box for $525. While I know that's no bargain, is this a fair price for a gun that was made for only 2 yrs?

One of my favorites and hard to come by, if it fits your hand you can't go wrong. A new stainless/alloy 3rd generation S&W retails for $900+ when they do run them, so the price isn't out of line. No doubt someone will jump in here that bought one for $200 with 1K of ammo thrown in.

Fair price IMO, on a superb and scarce pistol. Buy it, shoot it, love it! Regards 18DAI.

I had one these in a 3953. It's joined the list of the guns I regret selling.

It must be the picture, but those I have never seen grips on a S&W 3rd gen that looked like that before. As 18DAI said, it is a fair price, especially taking in rare factor, plus pre-rail--which most people don't care for the looks of, and when compared to the going prices of a 3913 LS.

I think it's a little steep. Would want to see at least 2 mags for that price.

I wish I could say so, but unfortunately, I paid about $550 for mine last April. That included two magazines but no case.
Cheers!

I paid $400 in January for one LNIB, round count of 14, with four mags.

If it were a 3913 I'd have to say you may have paid a few bucks more than I would. Not a lot but a few.
As it stands, the TSW suffix is definitely worth the extra dinero. Hand fitted autos are a dream to operate. You did not pay too much.

From what I've seen, they go for between $400 and $600, depending on condition. Occasionally, you'll see one for more or less, but that's the exception.

I don't think it's out of line. I bought my pre-rail for $400 at least three years ago. Just the gun and one mag, no box. I managed to find three of the short mags over time at gunshows/shops at a good price and snapped them up.
It's a very nice gun, that's interesting as well.

State abbreviations have a lot to do with prices.
NJ, MA, CA
Normal purchase price, you did OK.
Look at the prices of Glocks in MA compared to the rest of the country.

Not a bad price the TSW is hand fitted?
there are a few 3953s listed on GB with higher #s. The 3913s are slowly creeping up in price (as everything else) If you are happy dont fret it
nice find.

Good price. Not great and not a ripoff by any means. I got lucky a year ago and got a NIB 3914 TSW for $500. *BUT* it has the rail, and I prefer non-rail models. Great shooter though!

Well that's it then...I'll buy the gun. I contacted the factory and they can do a de-cock only conversion with a single side safety. Not as slim as that 3953TSW I foolishly sold but it will do for now. Thank's for the imput.

The Tactical models have features formerly found only on guns from S&W's Performance Center. Foremost of these is a change in the slide and frame that provides full length contact between the two parts. The second is a change in the barrel lockup geometry that delays unlocking for a tiny fraction of a second longer. The slide-to-frame fit is incredibly tight as are the shot groupings.
You should find matching numbers on the underside of the slide and underneath the grips.

For some reason I thought S&W could convert your 3913TSW to DAO. That would make it very similar and just as slim as the 3953TSW you had.
Sweet gun. I love the short grip and the slide/frame fit. I don't think you did too bad for it's rarity, quality and the box would be about $25 to buy separately.
Congratulations and good luck with it.

Yup, sweet little carry 9mm's. I paid $450 for a nice 3913TSW a little over a year ago so I don't think $525 is way out of line for a nice one. Especially since they are getting harder and harder to find and like labworm said, living on the east coast bumps up the price!

I won't say how much I paid for mine because I know I overpaid. Bought it in 2010, 'like new' condition, 2 mags and box. I traded a pistol towards it to get it in the $500 price range.
That said, I haven't seen one at any of LGS in my area since then! Have seen a few online for decent prices. I have no regrets overpaying and trading towards it because it's been my EDC since I bought it!

IMHO I think you guys are a little low. Anything under $600 for what you described is good to me. A LNIB standard 3913 will fetch in the $500's. I know...one less round and shorter grip...but very nice gun for the $$.

I don't think the 7 round TSWs were hand fitted. Can anyone confirm?

The SCSW only makes reference to the "9 Tactical" (8 round second version) being machined as a matched set and serialized but not the "Tactical" (7 round) version. In the description of the later gun it says "each TSW" but I believe it means only 8 round TSW's. While I like them both I own the 7 round version by choice due to the rail on the 8 rounder.
While I've never handled an example of the "9 Tactical" I can say my non-rail "Tactical" is a great gun so the second version has to be at least as good or better. JMHO.

the rail and fit tolerances are the same, neither were listed as performance center models but the tolerances are the same for TSWs regardless if they were coded as a railed gun with caliber prefix before the "Tactical" or a non rail gun with no such prefix. I do not like rails either.

USA, I am happy for you. I paid more for my 3913tsw, but I don't have any regret. People quible about $25 or $50, but that really only represents an hour at the local range. You did well.

The other day I was able to grab a 1999 pre-rail 3913tsw with 1 mag that may be from a CS9 Im told, for quite a steal. Has some faint markings on the slide where maybe it hit the seat belt or something. Cant wait to shoot it and see what you're all raving about. And after all I was thinking of selling it!
