Hello, I am brand new to the S&W world. I have owned Sig's, Dan Wesson's, Beretta's and others but this Bodyguard has caught my attention. I am looking for a nice CC weapon and my friend put me onto this. I have read that the laser button is difficult to push, is this true? If so, has it been fixed? How is the reliability? Does the pinky hang off the bottom? What is the standard price people are paying at dealers? I really appreciate all the feedback possible. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum! I bought my BG 380 in February and have found it to be reliable (199/200 rounds fired, 1 bad primer), accurate and surprisingly fun to shoot. The laser button requires a positive push to turn on and off, but it isn't an issue for me: I'd rather than than to have it burn out the batteries in my pocket. There's a well-documented "fix" for it, search and you'll find it. Two finger grip for sure, it's a very small gun. I rate it a keeper.

I had an LCP and it just beat me up with the recoil. I traded it for the Bodyguard 380 and found it to be fun to shoot. Not that I am a recoil diva but a follow up shots with a small caliber gun is a requirement. This is a accurate and dependable gun that I have confidence in and carry daily.
I do not know of any additional mag's for this gun other than the supplied by S&W.

Wasn't there somehting about the laser on-off button being small, and hard to reach with the finger?

For my hand the laser button is right under where the tip of my index finger rests when I have a finger-off-the-trigger hold on the gun, perfect position for me and it's not particularly small. On my model there's a small raised lip around the button, ostensibly to stop the button from being pushed in your pocket, that works as a locator.

I haven't heard anything about +capacity mags, I think the standard S&W offering is all there is.

Could some of you tell me the average price for the gun? I seen a gun show on TV staying it would retail for under $300 bucks .. But I don't know how old the show was..I'm in NH.. Gun prices seem to be all over the place around here.. Thanks! George

They are selling for around 360.00 in the Lexington KY area. You have to look around to find one though, they are good sellers. Buds Guns has a used one for 325.00 at the time of this post.

Thanks Guy's! I think it would be just the ticket for the wife in her hand bag.. She has a J frame snub S&W .38 that I don't like much for that kind of carry and she don't want to install a bobbed hammer in it. Wants to keep it original.. We both have older eyes and I think the laser would help out a lot plus she has very small hands with arthritis in them and dislikes recoil.. Again .380 should be the ticket.. George

Re: Your wife and recoil, I've found both the S&W and the LCP to have recoil about the same as a J snub. You may want to have her shoot the .380 before putting out your hard earned money.

Thanks I will if I can find one for her to shoot.. I have a .22LR Beretta model 71 and a old 1944 .32 cal Beretta from WW2. Both are pistols.. Then I jump to S&W 9mm in 6906, 4566 in .45.. The old S&W .38 J frame chiefs special she had shot years ago without issues.. I had a few cheap .380 pistols years ago and if memory serves me right they were light in recoil.. I think I had a Bryco and Jennings pistols in .380.. George

I saw a few for sael at a gun show last week. One place had them for $349 (cash). The other place was selling it for $365. All the local shops were asking retail or just under ($395-$399.)
