Default There are many like it, but this 39-2 is mine.

Well, I have been searching for years and finally found one. It is not in the original finish as I always like my guns to be, but it was a deal I can't turn down to. so here it is.

The last owner's father decide two tone looks better than its classic anodized blued-ish look. So it appear that he hand polish off the anodized finish.

But whatever, if he did it himself, he had done a decent job. Not much scratch/din around the frame, and he even got most of anodized finish off the rear grip texture area. Which I can only image how difficult that was. The slide still have lots deep mirror blued, and the barrel rifling still holds. This pistol still has lots life in it.

I replace the Packmayr wrap around grip with a wood grip that I found on gunbroker. I don't who made this but the seller called it "Mustang" grip. It looks and feel good in my hand.

I don't know if anyone had done a trigger job on this pistol but it's SA trigger is amazingly smooth and light. Its double action was just ok. Not any better or worse than my Sigs or Beretta.

I'll credit my nice shooting to its trigger. These were the targets from my first range trip with 39-2.

25ft, 1 mag, 8 shots, free stand slow fire.

25ft, 3 mags, 24 shots, free stand slow fire.

Now my next step is to find some mags and few replacement parts.

Nice looking 39. I'd say that you have a real keeper; an accurate one too. Congrats.

I see your gun also has the fully adjustable rear sight, which is a plus.

That's a great pistol (my very first S&W was an early Model 39), but your title has me harkening back to my days in the Marine Corps, and I think I'd like to have my M14 back in my hands.

That skinny, 17 year old kid in the middle of the first row getting schooled on the finer points of the M14 rifle is me from a LONG time ago.

P.S.- Congratulations not only on your fine Model 39, but also on your impressive shooting!

That's a nice 39-2 there. The two tone look it has was done well. Enjoy one of the best pistols made.

Nice looking 39.
You may want to consider having some kind of finish applied to the frame. Bare alloy will certainly wear MUCH quicker than a treted finish.

Enjoy,
Bob

I thought about it. Just can't decide on either nickel plate the gun or restore to factory finish.
