Is the 2206 a better gun than the 622/422? What is the difference between the models?

What are current going prices on these handguns.

Here in wa state. I paid $370 for a new 442 a few months ago. Near 400 after tax.

Is 350 good for a 2206?

I'd guess that would be about right for a 4.5" 2206 NIB, and a little high for a 6", but not outrageously so.

Why would the 4.5 be higher than a 6"?

That's a decent price depending on condition, number of mags included, and whether or not it comes with the box and papers.

Well I ended up finding a 422 for 250 this morning and bought it. 2 mags and box not to sure about manual.

That's a pretty good price for that package. If you like it, you can always pick up a 2206 later.

These are great guns,any of the models.I wish S&W never stopped production on these,great plinker informal target guns.I bought my first 422 in 1988 and still have it.An all stainless 2206 would be nice.I mostly see 422/622 2213/14s by me.

That's a good deal you got on your 422....I'm thinking the main difference between the 2206/422/622 is stainless steel. As in all steel for the 2206 versus steel/stainless slides and alloy frames in the 622.

They are fine woods walking pistols and dead nuts accurate and reliable. The machining on this series of pistols is most excellent and the under barrel design makes them great suppresor hosts.

It's one of those guns that should have sold for much more than they did. The quality, fit/finish and design are top notch and worth every penny. I've shot thousands and thousands of rounds through the 3 I own and can count on 1 hand the gun-related failures.

I picked up this little Beauty last month at the local gunshow. It's a Mint condition 2206 with original serial numbered box,papers and two Magazines for $225.

That's a steal! I've seen the kind of package you describe go for twice that amount.

Yeah I couldn't believe it myself when I saw it sitting there in the glass case. My son and I both saw it at the same time and we both looked at each other like is that right?
I was all over it in a heartbeat. The woman who owned the shop who was selling it sells only plastic guns and hunting rifles. She took it in on a trade and didn't think it had much value!! It doesn't look to have had very many rounds put through it either. It'sa been a looong time since I've found a diamond in the ruff!

I've heard people say that model 41 sales suffered b/c the 2206 had most of the quality and accuracy of the 41 for a fraction of the price, so management killed it. Don't know if that's true but it sounds good.

I also saw a really nice 4" stainless 622 with a custom made stainless scope mnt. there too for $300 but I had to pass on it for lack of funds! It was at the end of the day and I had already spent most of my gun fund money by then. I grabbed the guys card in hopes of calling him to see if he would make a deal but I lost the damn thing some where.

The Blue Book of gun values states that the 6" is worth more than the 4.5" 2206.

Guides are low on this series. Check GB for real world pricing.

Oh, and this thread is five years old.

I have a 422, a rare 622 vented rib(4.5" barrel) and a 2206. I like the 2206 better of the 3

I have a of number .22lr pistols and revolver. As far as pistols go the 622 is my favorite. The model 63, my favorite revolver. They are both very accurate.
