Default Were there laminated grips on late model 46's

Did Smith run out of plastic grips on late models of the 46 and did they put on laminated wood at that time?

Late 46s could have plastic or wood grips like ones on 41s - no laminated.

I may be wrong but I believe the 46's only ran for a short time length in the earlier 60's. I fire mine every week and really love it. Mine has --had the plastic grips on it as I just removed them yesterday. Going to the solid factory wood ones. To me better hand feel with damaged paws on both sides.

These aren't from Smith?
The "knowledgeable " smith collector I bought this from said it was, and I believed him. Actually, what he said was they ran out of plastic and they used wood instead, but he didn't say these were what they used on this one. So he was only half lying, maybe.

The grips pictured appear to be fairly recent 41 grips - well past (25-30 years) the period when the 46 was manufactured. 41 and 46 frames are the same as far as grips go.

Yes, they did use laminated wood, but not on the Model 46. As Tom said, those grips are newer production Model 41 grips. You can tell by the smaller area of checkering among other things.
