What makes a 5906 TSW "tactical"
I have seen a couple gen 3"s with the word "tactical" on the slide. what makes these guns tactical?

Actually it's a couple of things over the standard 3rd Gen. Aside from the obvious rail, there's the larger box rails and thicker dust cover. I think the mag release is reversible and tighter lock up. I know there's more but I don't know. Oh yeah, the price tag too.

Is that your TSW boingboing? Nice integral rail model! That one certainly carries an extra "Tactical" price tag.

Its the same reason why I have a global exclusive Tactical Brooklyn Bridge for sale. Not to many folks sell a special forces suspension bridge, so get yours from me while you can!

I handled one at a gunshow one day, and the double action trigger pull seemed way smoother than my standard 5906, but maybe it was just my perception?

With a used gun there is no way to know. For all any of us can guess that particular TSW model had a trigger job done.My 5906 has a really smooth DA pull, and it doesn't have a trendy label on the slide.

Smith & Wesson TSW models a cut above the rest.

Thanks for posting the prospectus .While an entertaining read which includes some fascinating changes to the pistol ,the article serves to reinforce 18DAI's post.

Yeah, but he is just being a smarty 'cause he has one.
Actually with my 4513TSW I did notice a difference (much better) in the recoil compared to my M&P 45 FS shooting the same ammo, but I thought it was due to the double recoil springs in there. The brochure says it's because it has a longer unlocking delay. I don't even know what that is.

Yeah it's mine. Bought it off another forum member earlier this year I think and I've shot the poop out of so far.

Barrel to bushing fit is tighter as is the lock up. fit is tighter due to the box rails. But the finish I'm not too sure about.

The difference in the recoil is that one is plastic and the other is metal. Totally different harmonics = different feel
