Good deal or not? 5906 TSW. Now w/PICs
3rd Gen fever has struck me again. Thinking of trading my 4" 586 plus some .38 ammo (about 75 rounds) for a 5906 TSW with 3 mags and original box. I figure the 5906 TSW wont come around every day.

I like your thought process. They still make 686s and you can find them used all over. The 3rd gens will just get harder to find over time.

Great looking 5906 and I would of made that trade too. Hard to find any 3rd generation Smiths anymore.
Congrats,
Howard

The 5906 and 5906 TSW are at the absolute top of the full size 9MM service pistol tree. Reliable, accurate and built to last, S&W does not make pistols like them anymore.
I had a LEO trade 5906, however I traded it on another Smith because I've come to favor S&W's compact 9MM's- 3913, 6906 and CS-9. Can't go wrong with any 3rd gen S&W pistols.

That's it . Figured I'd missed out cause there was a deal pending but it fell through and I was next in line so it was meant to be mine

I was expecting something the size of a vw when I went to get my 5906 last week, with all the stories I'd read about how big and heavy they were. sure, it's heavy compared to a poly pistol. but, aye, what a gem these guns are.
My previous experience with s&w semiautos was a 39-2.
I love steel.

One thing that impressed me about my TSW was the slide fit. When I reassembled it after cleaning, I could almost hear the vacuum seal!
Good get.

I had no idea the 5906 was as popular as it is, I listed mine for trade and didnt get a bit of interest. I need to move either my 5906 or 6906 because I want an 870, I want to keep the 6906 so the 5906 is the one going.
Once its gone, I will be regretting it.

Sweet. A price cannot be placed on quality, reliability and proven performance. Let us know how it handles, please. I am envious.
