Default Shorty Forty

I have a beautiful alloy & stainless Shorty Forty Mk3S with custom Hogue wrap around grips & three mags, two 9 rd and one 11 rd extended. I purchased this for $600 about 8 years ago from a private sale and unfortunately no box or manual. This pistol is 99.9% perfect condition and the serial number is PCW00xx. Does anyone have info on when this piece was made and it's approximate value?

Congratulations on getting the Shorty Forty. I'm no expert on this fine weapon but, I own a Shorty Forty myself. There are a lot of knowledgeable members on this forum who will see you post and offer up valuable information about your weapon.

From what was told to me here, the Lew Horton Shorty Forty was produced in three distinct runs (or generations). Your Shorty Forty sounds as if to be the final generation of the lot, with the most number of handguns produced.

Enjoy your firearm and take pride in it, for it came out of the S&W Performance Center.

The #170076 Shorty 40 MK3S was made in 1996 with approx 500 manufactured. Value without the accessories with this economy is a good question. You should get your $$ back, but how much more only an auction would know.
