Here's a 5-inch M-46 that shipped in 1961.
It has the ramp-type front sight.

Very nice! That's a rare bird you've got there. Have you considered getting a factory letter?

Very nice 46 - would have guessed 1960 based on SN. Suggest you DO NOT shoot anything but std. velocity ammo as it has the earlier square cut slide - one of the last ones with that type slide.

Have the letter, and it shipped May 2nd, 1961. Thanks for the kind words.

Good advice (as usual).
I shoot a later (rounded slide) 46 for bullseye, as well as a 41.
As an additional safety measure I've been using slide-buffers from Buffer Technologies on all 41's and 46's for years.
