Safety better off. Slide moves easier.

Sometimes the slide stop is difficult to "punch out." On a few of my nineteen 3rd generation pistols I use the cap end of one of my Sharpie pins with my right hand while holding the pistol with slide back to take-down notch in my left. I like using the Sharpie rather than a punch so as to not scratch or mar the finish. HTH

might have to jiggle the slide a little to find the right spot.

Had the same problem with my model 559. Eventually sent it back to S&W. Problem solved.

Well what really gets my goat is that last week right after I got the pistol I took it apart to clean it had no problem getting it out, put the thing back together and now cant get the lever out , no big deal for what it would cost to send it back, just dont understand why it wont come back out, dont want to beat on it cause this is a fine looking pistol.
