My new baby pictures
Here are pictures of my new baby. S&W model 5943. Aluminum frame and Stainless slide. I figure if it was good enough for police carry, it was good enough for me. I was shopping and it was "Nah, what else you got?......nah.....nah...... I LIKE THIS ONE, I'LL TAKE IT". The price was decent and I was able to score 2 (count 'em) TWO whole boxes of ammo. Remington Disentegrators. Not my first choice, but beats nothing. Has a 10 round mag which is fine with me, I may try to find a 15 round when things clear up. I was really glad to add this to my Smith collection. Haven't had a chance to try it out but I like taking it apart and putting it back together!
Does anybody know about these?
Range report will be forthcoming.

Congrats - the dao 3rd gens are great. I own the 5944 and it is my usual carry gun. Magazines are readily available at gun shows where I am at - usually 20-25 a piece for the factory 15 rounders.

I'll second the "nice find." I have a 5903 but might actually prefer the consistent dao trigger pull your pistol had over the sa/da of my 5903.

5943 pistols to me are great for carry, and if the wood grips fit your hand - go for it. I have two of the mec gar 17 rd magazines, they work pretty good. I also added a extended mag release from a S&W 745 / Performance center pistols. Here's mine 5943TSW

The Standard Catalog of S&W 3rd Edition indicates it was only made in 1991, at least that's how I interpret the listing. (page 317)
