Default 5906 shooting low

New to me early model 5906 non adjustable novak rear. I took it to the range last weekend for the first time and shot about 200 rounds through it. Want some advice on what to do to get the sights lined up to where the round is going? Its shooting about 2" low at 15 yds. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sights are usually set for 25yards so you may be right on by there. Bullet weight/velocity will also change print, with lighter/faster bullets hitting lower. If you do settle on a bullet weight/brand and still find the POI low you can purchase a shorter front sight for your gun. Novaks can actually make a sight the correct height if they know what the current POI@25yds is.

I too have this problem with my 5906, Novak 3 dot sights.
Are they 6 o’clock hold sights? Meaning aiming with post exactly
in rear notch and groups are off by about 3-5 inches at 15 yds

Three-dots do this if your sight picture is wrong. Proper sight picture -- line up the front and rear sights as usual, put the front dot -- not the top of the sight -- where you want to hit. Yes, this partially obscures the target, but 3-dots are meant more for quick-and-dirty shooting than target work.

They're usually regulated so you cover the target with the front sight instead of sitting the target on top of the front sight. So if you're shooting at a bullseye target cover the entire bullseye with the front sight.
It's not my preferred sighting arrangement. I had to adapt to such alignment when we went to the 3rd gen S&W dept issued guns.
