Default 5906 Duty Holster Recommendation?

Hey all, this is my first post on the forum. I've been lurking for a while and decided to sign up today. I have my first S&W autoloader coming in from CDNN soon, a 5906 . Does anyone have a recommended duty holster/OWB holster? Not only is this my first S&W handgun, it is also my first handgun in general ( I like to forget my brief affair with a Raven .25 ).

Thanks all in advance!

For a true duty holster may I recommned the Safariland 070, it's a triple retention holster , very secure yet when once broken in it is very fast so long as you practise with it .
The Mounties and the BC Sheriffs use it for their 5946 pistols, a very smart holster in basketweave.

For more discreet use try the Safariland 0701, it is a good retention holster but with practise very fast.

Not a "duty" holster, but handy for all the 59-series guns is the FOBUS SG-21.

The slide release will "eat" into the kydex a bit until it makes a groove that matches the pistol.

Here with the 915 and 659

How does that affect the finish of the stainless steel? I would think since it cuts a groove into the kydex it might cause wear

Do you want a duty holster as in one that hangs from a uniform belt? Or do you want something like a pancake holster?

If the former, I have a used Gould and Goodrich retention duty holster. It's a model B720 590. I'll let it go pretty cheap as it was used a lot back in the day. It functions fine and will clean up nicely.

No extra charge for the dust.

Default Galco & TT Gunleather Holsters

I've posted this many times on these boards, but I can't say enough about TT Gunleather holsters made by Tim Thurner in Montana.

Generally Milt Sparks and Rosen holsters are considered to be some of the finest fully custom holsters. They are expensive (but pretty much worth it) and have very long waiting periods.

A friend who owned both, bought a TT Gunleather holster, and told me he liked it as much or better than his Sparks and Rosen holsters. I then contacted Tim (Thurner) and ordered one for myself (an IWB model) for my 4014. After just a couple of weeks, and for a very reasonable cost, my new holster arrived. BooYAH! It was awesome. My holster slid right in, kind of snug, and perfect. I've worn it daily for the last 9 months since receiving it. Best holster ever!

My other holsters are Galco's and I love them too. For the money they are really nice. But the TT is on a different level altogether.

Shown here are my 5906 in a Galco Cop model OWB and my 4014 in a TT Gunleather IWB holster.

If you're looking for a actual duty holster, go Safariland. They make a 6280 for them. I also have a 070 for a 5906, although I don't have a 5906 any more. It is also a nice holster.

While I mean no offense to any one, in my opinion the Safariland 070 is an outdated design and is very slow. We stopped seeing them at the police academy a number of years ago, but when we did those officer's found it very difficult to make time. They always rocked the retention drills, but always died (in training, not in reality) when we did presentation against a knife wielding suspect. I would recommend the Safariland 6285, 6365, etc. with the STX finish. Fast with good retention and long term durability.

For off duty I would avoid riveted plastic holsters which can be quickly and easily pulled off your body. Instead find something like a G&G gold line. When it comes to holsters there is a big difference between casual carry and strapping on a gun to serve and protect. You never said why you are carrying, but when I read "duty" I presumed you meant some kind of armed service.
