Todays was the first time my 13 year son ever shot a gun. He really enjoyed plinkiing with my 22A and he did well. it was easy for him especially since we were at 7 yeards using a bushnell red dot scope. Now hes asking for his own gun. Good first experience, we had a lot of fun and I am looking forward to more trips to range with him.
I also had a scope on my 22A for a while and it was good fun also. Due to a hand problem I have removed the scope from this gun and currently have it on another. I find the sights which are factory on the gun are actually quite good for the range anyways and it also makes the gun ligther which is part of the problem I was having. Glad to hear you are enjoying it so much as well.
Yeah right " A family that shoot together stays together " Ok I will have to believe that but dang it gets expensive when my son goes shooting. He is almost 22 now. I have bought more guns in the last 2 years than I ever have. I guess people forgot to tell how expensive that shooting really is. I now have so many different calibers its not funny. But since I came from a shotgun family I just had to have a pistol, Then another, then Dang they are like rabbits here now!!! Yes a few months ago I bought a 22a with a 7 inch barrel. Oh MY Gosh it does shoot as awesome as anything I have or have shot. It so far has not been picky about the ammo yet. I have shot a bunch of 20 year ammo and son new stuff just a couple of problems but I am HAPPY with mine.
Yes this is an opportunity to bond with my 13 year old. As I said he likes the 22a a lot . Now were thinking of trying rifles , I am a handgun guy so I can't teach him about rifles so we are looking into a riifle class for the both of us. I have a feeling this is going to cost since he will eventually want his own rifle. I am going to tell him to start looking for a Job to help me fund this awesome hobby.
