Default Need info re: Chief's Special 45 Auto

Found one Brand New with box and everything that comes with it. I can get it for about $650 total which is about the same as an M&P which I already have.

I really don't know anything about this model. Is this a desirable model? Reliable? Is that a good price?
Any information will be helpful. I certainly don't need it but........

I think its a rather fair price for nib. The cs45 is a pretty desirable and these days hard to find 3rd gen.. Great gun! If you have the funds, do it. Then get some Big Dog Grips.

great gun, very controllable, reliable and concealable. They stopped making them a few yrs back and demand seems to be pretty high as prices reflect. I have 2, bought my first one 4 or 5 yrs ago for $400, have seen them in the last several months anywhere from $350-400 (rough condition usually) to $700 (claimed "NIB"). Seems like an "avg" price for one in VG cond these days is $400-500. SS models seem to command higher price. $650 seems high to me but if its truly "NIB", I bet if you didn't buy it, somebody else would. Think its safe to say they are in demand and that always seems to drive prices up. FWIW, I've never had a regret about buying either of mine. Its my usual EDC. Good luck.

Thank you for the information guys.

It is stainless. It is definitely NIB, in a gun store where they discovered it in "the back" recently. Asking price is actually $599 but I have to pay tax too so pretty close to $650. Am still thinking about it.

You are correct, if I don't buy it someone else will and I will regret my decision. If I do get it I will have buyer's remorse and will regret my decision. I'm doomed either way now.

I know a guy has a decent H&R 999 .22 revolver for $200. I might get that instead. No where near the gun the CS is but no where near the price either and with the cost of ammunition what it is, I can shoot it a LOT more. I already have 45s and the CS would likely just sit in my safe.

I had thought about trading my Glock 36 for it but it is still back at the Glock factory. I hope they can get it right this time. That is another story for another time though.
Fading love for Glock but increasing enthusiasm for M&Ps as far as polymer pistols go.
The "appeal of steel" still rings fairly loudly though, thus the call of the CS.

It's a hard world out there! I really need help making these life altering decisions. Thanks for the input.

Don't forget, the frame is Al alloy. But GET IT ANYWAY!

NIB CS45's do not come up every day. Don't miss the boat.

Knowing it really is NIB AND SS, I would be be having a really hard time talking myself out of buying it! They truly are great little guns in every respect. I don't know why you would have buyers remorse. If nothing else, buy it and keep it in the safe. If S&W foolishly never brought it back into production, you just might have a gun with some collector value to it someday. And if they ever do bring it back into production, most likely your version would still be of higher quality than a new one. Bet none of this makes the decision any easier for you----sorry!!!!

Well thanks gentlemen (I am assuming none of you are ladies. There seem to be a few on this forum).

I thought I had my mind made up to not get it. Now I think I will get it just because you said so! I guess that is why I posed the question in the first place wasn't it? But then I will have to decide to shoot it or keep it as new in the safe.

Purchasing decisions by forum vote, it's the American way!

I am becoming a S&W addict.

I just threw a bid in on one that is listed on GB. No way I'll win it since my bid so far is $305. Even if I did, I'd have to hide it from the wife. But then I could say, No honey, that's not a 45, that's my CS40. You need to get your glasses cleaned.
