Wow! I haven't even seen a 4040PD for sale around here in forever. The last time I saw one the LGS tagged it at $495 VG and it was gone in one day.

I am trying very hard to buy as we speak. It is a private sell I found online, trying to talk the seller into shipping to my FFL. I havent seen a 4040PD in years, and it looks very nice in the pictures.

I just paid $550 for one in 98% condition, and was dam glad to do so. I have tried to buy them every time I see them on here and they go very fast. The last I saw on here sold in just a few hours. If it is in good shape fork it up.

I have seen prices all over the place for the 4040. Anywhere from $400 - $800. These are hard to find most of the time and are very nice pistols.

In my neck of the woods, a 4040 doesn't exist in the LGS. Most of what I have seen online are in the 500-800 range. A 4040 has been on my wish list for a long time, almost giving up on it. I did pick up a 4013 single stack recently as a close replacement.

J.D. - I am still kicking myself for selling you the first one I ever had.
I doubt I'll make that mistake again!

If you find a nice one, they seem to sell at around $500, or a bit more. Not everyone is interested in them. Magazines are totally unique - and expensive. I have heard people say they expect them to be vicious (recoil) so they are not inclined to try one. That is a myth, of course. A 180 at 950 is no great strain in a gun of this size, if you think about it. A 3913 does basically the same thing with a 147, and 33-grains is not that much more bullet flying down the barrel.

I prefer it to the M&P40c, though that is not intended as a criticism of the 40c.

If it makes you feel better it is one of my favorites. It also started a sub collection of my 3rd gens as I picked two more up, one of them NIB. The 4040 you sold me is in a good home with lots of relatives.

I bought mine NIB for $535. I found it in PA gun shop and had been reduced in price to move it out. I couldn't believe it when I saw it in the case. That was 1 year ago this April. I'm never going to sell this one, it's the only 40 I own now.

Default 4040PD

Picked mine up off Gun Broker last fall. Some one really tried to outbid me in the last 30 minutes. He lost his nerve at $635 for a 98% with the box. I was pleased to pay it. Love the gun. it is my primary carry weapon and car gun. Picked up 2 new mags (1 of each type) off GB through an Alabama Sporting Goods Company. They were expensive and I happily forked out. Can never have enough mags or guns for that matter.

Mike

Peace through eternal vigilance.

The only one I have ever seen down in South Florida was 95% with extra mag and box for $795.
