Default Soften / Melt? 5906

I handled a 59 last week. It was blue and felt smoother & softer than a 5906. I have read about people having 1911s melted. Is that something also done to 3gen Stainless pistols?

Sure, it can be done, and probably should - the 5906 seems to have a few sharp edges.

Novak's offers something they call the "carry bevel package" for 3rd Gen. S&W, which I assume is some sort of "melt" job.

I have never melted a 3rd Gen but I always break some of the corners and edges on my stainless guns. You can "matte" them back out a little with a green scotch bright pad or have them bead blasted. I just leave them as is. The "battle scar" look makes them look more Bad A in my opinion.
