Default 3904

Last week I picked up a very nice 3904 for what I consider a reasonable price. No box, no papers, only one magazine, but it's going to be a shooter, not a museum piece so I wasn't all that concerned.

Right after I picked it up I had to go out of town for a few days so I only got to take it apart and get a good lock at it this morning.

This thing is like new. I don't know that it's been carried or fired since it left the factory, it's that nice.

It's also bone dry, as if it's never been cleaned or oiled. Both of which it will get before I take it to the range.

I'll get some pictures when I have a chance.

Now, to find a couple of extra magazines and a holster.

Congrats on your 3904!!

I've got the heavier stainless 3906. They are great pistols.

I've found mags are hard to come by. I picked up two 9 round versions on Gunbroker last year. They usually run around $30.

As far as holsters go, I've found those made for the Walther P99 to work very well. Enjoy your 3904! Regards 18DAI

Thanks and thanks for the holster information. I was thinking 5904/06 holsters would work, but those are getting scarce and expensive too.

Mine has an 8 round magazine, which seems odd since there is a lot of dead space where at least one more round could go.

I go up to Kittery Trading post a couple of times a year. They have several bins filled with magazines and other accessories and parts. Not much is marked, but I bring a sample magazine with me and spend an hour or so going through them. I've got some nice magazines for short money doing that. Not that I expect to find 3904 magazines since they were only in production a short time.

Tim Thurner, of TT Gunleather in Montana, made me an incredible IWB holster for my 4014.

The price, and time it took, were both really surprising (in a good way!) for a fully custom holster. I've posted this before, but a friend of mine, that collects high end 1911's, and has several Sparks and Rosen holsters has switched to TT Gunleather and told me about it.

I highly recommend them.

The TT Gunleather holster is the one on the right with the black 4014. (The other one, with the 5906, is a Galco Cop Model OWB that I've had for some time)

They also have their Occidental Leather Stronghold series, which are made by a sister company to Tim's designs. These are usually in stock for immediate delivery. They show the 3913 and 3913TSW models in the drop-down window for ordering

By the way, I meant to add that my 4014 does fit nicely in the Galco OWB cop model holster shown, which is the model made for the 5906.

Although it fits really nicely in the TT Gunleather IWB. A perfect, amazing fit.

Midway sells S&W new ones for the 3904, around $33....see link:

Mag S&W 39 439 539 639 909 952 3904 3906 3944 3946 9mm Luger 9-Round SS

They also sell the cheaper, non-S&W blue mags for around $17.

shouldn't any 39-59 series holster fit a 3904? They are easily found and reasonable in price.

Yes. The 5900 series holster should fit perfectly.

Yes, but for some reason I blanked out on looking for Model 39 holsters. Duh.

Turns out I already have three holsters that the 3904 will fit. First is a Don Hume 721 that I have for my 5906, but forgot I had. Second is the IWB Mika holster I bought for my 3914. That fits just fine. Third is from the now defunct Safety Speed holster company and I bought it on Ebay for my 6906. The thumb strap is just a wee bit tight, but the holster is brand new and I put the 3904 in to stretch the leather just a bit.

Woo Hoo! 3904! Wait a minute, this entire thread is suspect until I see visual evidence of this alleged 3904.

I'll try to get some over the weekend. I wasn't specifically looking for a 3904 (or 3906) I was just browsing a gun store website and there it was.

I carry mine as my ccw. It has a square trigger guard. So holsters are harder to find. I put Meprolight night sights and a handall grip. It is an excellent shooter.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that some of my other 3rd generation holsters fit perfectly. Saves me a lot of money and effort finding a holster.

Nope, still not convinced. Perhaps you should send it to me for a 90 day inspection and test fire period.

Congrats! That is a sweet looking 3904!

I'll do that. Go out and stand by your mail box and the package should be along any day now. If not, keep standing out there until it does!

Thanks, I'm very pleased with it. Cleaned and oiled it last night, ordered some magazines from Copes, and can't wait to get out to the range with it.

I hate it when the price you pay for a gun is some sort of military secret. It certainly helps other members to govern prices and the market in general.
